Calculation Groups vs UDFs in Power BI: What Should You Use and When?
About this event
Abstract:
Power BI keeps evolving, and with new features like User Defined Functions (UDFs) alongside existing tools like Calculation Groups, it can be confusing to know which one to use.
In this session, we'll break it down in simple terms. You'll learn what Calculation Groups and UDFs are, how they work, and where each one fits best. We'll walk through real examples to show how they solve different problems - like reducing repetitive DAX, improving model design, and making your reports easier to manage.
By the end of the session, you'll have a clear understanding of when to use Calculation Groups, when UDFs make more sense, and how to combine both for better, cleaner solutions in Power BI.
