About this event

We are back with another event at Q42, this time in Rotterdam.

We'll kick things off with a practical look at using Compose Multiplatform in production, covering lessons learned, trade-offs, and developer experience from real-world projects. In our second talk of the evening, we'll explore TestBalloon, an approach to modernizing Android and multiplatform testing infrastructure while simplifying the transition to a more unified testing setup. There is also a lightning talk on connecting Claude to Figma to generate Jetpack Compose UI code directly from designs.

Agenda:

  • 17:30: Doors open, food & drinks
  • 18:20: DutchAUG introduction
  • 18:25: Q42 introduction
  • 18:30: Kseniia Nikitina: Hands-on Experience of Compose Multiplatform in Production
  • 19:10: Nino van Hooff: Connect Claude to Figma for First-Time-Right Generated Composables (Lightning Talk)
  • 19:15: Short break
  • 19:30: Eugen Martynov: TestBalloon – Attempt to Lift Your Test Infra
  • 20:15: Networking & Drinks
  • 21:00: Closing

Kseniia Nikitina, Android Developer at Q42
Hands-on Experience of Compose Multiplatform in Production

In this talk, Kseniia will discuss the lessons learned from using Compose Multiplatform in a production environment. It highlights the key takeaways: differences from native development, the framework’s pros and cons, developer experience, and much more.

Nino van Hooff, Android Developer at Q42
Connect Claude to Figma for First-Time-Right Generated Composables
A lightning talk on the hottest topic right now.

Eugen Martynov, Android Engineer at ABN AMRO
TestBalloon – Attempt to Lift Your Test Infra

Eugen will explain how a Test Balloon trial can smooth out the JUnit4/JUnit5 mix, moving us toward a cleaner, unified testing setup. It offers a strong alternative for KMP/CMP, potentially replacing kotest or kotlin.test, which makes it easier to keep testing approaches aligned across Android and multiplatform. Beyond just reducing friction, the goal is to make testing feel lighter and more future‑proof—with simpler decisions, clearer trade‑offs, and a gradual rollout instead of a big‑bang change.

How to get there?

The Q42 office is located in the Groot Handelsgebouw, directly next to Rotterdam Central Station.

From the square in front of the station, enter through Main Entrance A (located to the left of Albert Heijn). Once inside the lobby, take either the two flights of stairs or the elevator to the first floor. The entrance to the Q42/Eidra office is on your right. You can ring the doorbell at the entrance.
