Data + AI Summit 2026 brought 30,000+ attendees to San Francisco and 23 announcements across six product areas. I went through all of them and pulled out what matters for running this in production: what's ready for enterprise workloads today, how governance and real-time serving hold up at scale, and what it takes to bring these capabilities into an existing data estate.

Two developments stand out for enterprise teams. Global Unity Catalog extends governance, discovery, and lineage across regions and clouds – one consistent, audited view of your data and AI assets, with policies enforced at the source instead of duplicated per metastore. And Lakehouse//RT closes the real-time gap, bringing low-latency ingestion, serving, and BI directly onto the governed lakehouse. The focus is practical: maturity and readiness, where the operational trade-offs sit, and what it takes to adopt these in a regulated, multi-cloud environment.

The parking spaces directly at the company are limited, but the Drachenfelsbahn car park can be reached in about 5 minutes on foot.
