From Bedrock to AgentCore: Build and Deploy Your First AI Agent

Build an AI agent in two hours and deploy it to AWS. It all runs in your browser on a free AWS sandbox account, so there is nothing to install and no credit card is required.

🛠 WHAT YOU BUILD
Four steps, each one answering the question the last one leaves open:

1. A plain call to a language model — Amazon Bedrock, Converse API
2. Tool use, so the model does things instead of only answering
3. An agent framework that runs the loop for you — Strands Agents, @tool decorators
4. A deploy to Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime, where your agent runs as a managed service, you can call from anywhere
5. You leave with a working agent and the code.

👤 WHO THIS IS FOR
Anyone who can read code. Python helps; you do not need to be good at it. No AI experience required, no AWS experience required. If you have never opened the AWS console, this is a reasonable first thing to do with it.

A laptop, and Chrome or Edge.

✅ DO THIS BEFORE YOU COME
1. Create your free AWS Builder ID. You need one to attend, and it takes two minutes: https://bit.ly/4yT04pX
2. Do NOT request an AWS sandbox in the week before the event. You get one request per week, and you need it on the day. We request that we meet together at 10:00. Creating your Builder ID early is fine and encouraged. Requesting a sandbox early is not.
