THE TALKS
Geospatial Visualisation with Python, Web Scraping, and Folium - Hugh Evans (He/Him)
How can web data be transformed into interactive maps that reveal real-world patterns and connections?
In this talk, Hugh will walk through a project that uses Python to collect data from the web, process location information, and build interactive geographic visualisations with Folium. The session will introduce the technical workflow behind web scraping, geocoding, and map creation, showing how these tools can be combined to turn raw data into clear and engaging visual insight.
Attendees will get a practical look at how Python can be used for geospatial storytelling, from data collection through to interactive map output.
Along the way, the talk will highlight useful techniques, lessons learned, and the value of using visualisation to better understand distributed networks and location-based data.
This session will be especially useful for those interested in Python, data visualisation, web scraping, and real-world data projects.
Bridging the Gap Between Human Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence - Oluebube Anyahara (He/Him)
As AI systems continue to shape the future of work, education, and creativity, understanding how humans and machines can collaborate effectively is more important than ever. Across industries, AI is transforming how we solve problems, make decisions, and create value—automating routine tasks, enhancing productivity, and opening up new possibilities for innovation. But the greatest potential of AI lies not in replacing people, rather in augmenting human intelligence and enabling stronger collaboration between human expertise and machine capability.
In this talk, Oluebube will explore what effective human–AI collaboration looks like in practice, examining the strengths and limitations of both people and intelligent systems. We’ll discuss how AI can be integrated into workflows to support decision-making, creativity, and productivity, while also addressing the risks of overreliance, bias, and poor system design.
