About this event

A reflection on honesty between the founder of Wikipedia and the founder of Storyful

WIKIPEDIA: A BOLD EXPERIMENT IN TRUST: Entrepreneur Jimmy Wales founded Wikipedia, made it free for everyone, and wrote profit out of the script, and never looked back. Former journalist and Storyful founder Mark Little joins him on stage to examine the vital importance of his creation in a world of artificial reality, what he feels about the stampede for billions among his tech baron peers, and why he has written 'a blueprint for building things that last' to steady a global crisis.

Jimmy will sign copies of The Seven Rules of Trust afterwards.

Jimmy Wales is a American-British Internet entrepreneur best known for founding Wikipedia.org, as well as other wiki-related organizations, including the charitable organization Wikimedia Foundation, and the for-profit company Fandom. His debut book entitled ‘The Seven Rules of Trust’ was recently released.

Mark Little is an entrepreneur and journalist working to understand the impact of technology on media and democracy. Mark is the co-founder of Kinzen, which used AI and human analysis to detect online harms, and the founder of Storyful, the world's first social news agency. Mark has worked on trust and safety issues at Spotify, and developed media partnerships for Twitter. He is a former TV presenter and foreign correspondent for RTE, and was a member of the Future of Media Commission, tasked with mapping the future of public media in Ireland.

PRESENTED BY THE BORRIS FESTIVAL OF WRITING AND IDEAS.
