Learnings from SAP Gardener Development
About this event
What does it take for an open-source project to grow into a globally scaling Kubernetes provider?
Uwe Krüger was part of the initial SAP Gardener team and helped shape the project as developer and architect. This gives him a rare first-hand perspective on the decisions, trade-offs, and architectural ideas behind Gardener’s evolution.
In this talk, he will share that journey with us:
Learnings from SAP Gardener: This talk follows the journey of the open-source project Gardener as it evolved into a globally scaling Kubernetes provider, illustrating the key design decisions that paved the way. We will start with our initial decision to adopt Kubernetes, then explore how Gardener’s architecture increasingly mirrored Kubernetes' own core design principles. Finally, we will generalize this architecture into a repeatable blueprint for building arbitrary service providers with the same robust qualities — a blueprint that finally inspired the Apeiro Reference Architecture, the foundation of NeoNephos.
