OpenID Connect for .NET developers

Adding OpenID Connect to ASP.NET Core often starts with a call to AddOpenIdConnect(). But what actually happens under the hood?
In this session, we will build a practical mental model of OpenID Connect and explore the three key roles of the OpenID Connect handler: starting the authentication flow, handling the callback and obtaining tokens, and signing the user out.
Along the way, we will see how the application learns who the user is and obtains access to protected APIs. This talk will give you a solid starting point for understanding and using OpenID Connect in your ASP.NET Core applications.

About the speakers:
Guillermo Sotelo
Guillermo Sotelo is a software engineer and consultant at Mpya Digital in Malmö. After starting his career in custom electronics, he shifted to full-stack engineering and specialized in AI infrastructure, developer tooling, and on-premise LLM solutions. Today, he focuses on high-throughput file workflows, from ingestion to OCR parsing and indexing, while exploring agentic automation and conscious software design.

Tarkan Nielsen
Tarkan Nielsen is a Senior Software Consultant at Twoday, where I work with .NET, Aspire and Azure every day to bring the Danish government into a more modern software stack.

Tore Nestenius
Tore is a Microsoft .NET MVP, an Azure-certified developer, and an expert in areas like CQRS and event-sourcing, as well as web security and IdentityServer. Tore regularly shares his knowledge about .NET on his blog, focusing on security, Azure cloud, and authentication.
