📢 Leader, Weaver, Butterfly
If you run discovery sessions, workshops, or any kind of collaborative product work, the roles people play in those spaces matter more than most of us realise in unlocking creativity, insight, and innovation. This session gives you a practical framework for seeing those roles clearly, using them intentionally, and getting better results from the rooms you're in.
In this practical, hands-on session we'll explore:
- Role Patterns — what types of roles we might take on or call in at inclusive, psychologically safe events, and how they foster creativity and stronger group outcomes.
- Event Types — where and how different roles apply, what they do to improve a space, and how to use them to improve group ownership of facilitation outcomes and troubleshoot common problems in workshops and facilitated events.
- Design — working with different role and collaboration patterns to optimise inclusion and learning.
- Practice and Reflect — trying out a few of the named patterns as a way of embedding and enhancing the learning.
👤 Carl Rogers
Carl is Head of Technology Enablement at Hiscox London Market, leading a team of agile coaches and change agents. His work — across a career spanning the world's fourth-largest market research firm, a major S&P 500 US bank, and now a FTSE 100 insurer — has revolves around the same simple question: how do we reduce the unnecessary toil in people's daily work and lives?
That means creating environments where knowledge workers can show up authentically, with whatever energy they have to give that day — places of high trust and psychological safety, where people have agency to act and the transparency to understand why.
Carl lives in the Surrey Hills, where you’ll find him biking, hiking, and occasionally running.
