Retro Radio & Computing Day at TOG
About this event
Dive into vintage tech vibes and classic radio fun with fellow retro geeks at this chill day of tinkering and nostalgia.
Dust off the old receiver, dig out that computer and bring your favourite bit of strange technology to TOG.
Our Retro Day is back as part of the TOG Radio & Retro Weekend, with a special focus on vintage radio and communications equipment. There is still plenty of room for retro computers, consoles, games and the odd peripheral that nobody quite remembers how to use.
Come along for an afternoon of demonstrations, restoration stories and chats with the people keeping old technology going. You don't need to be a radio amateur or know your way around a circuit board to enjoy it.
Radios, computers and everything in between
We're inviting members, radio clubs, collectors and visitors to bring along:
- Vintage radios and communications equipment: receivers, transceivers, Morse keys and other interesting bits of radio history.
- Retro computers and consoles: home computers, games, CRT displays and unusual peripherals.
- Old test equipment and electronics: the tools and hardware that helped people build, repair and experiment.
- Restoration projects: equipment you've brought back to life, or something you're still trying to figure out.
Some equipment may be available to try. Please ask its owner before operating it; old hardware can have its own ideas about how an afternoon should go.
Have something to show?
We'd love to hear from you. You don't need a whole collection; one interesting piece of equipment and a story about it is plenty.
Email info@tog.ie with what you'd like to bring, roughly how much table space you need, and any power or display requirements. Working equipment and projects still in progress are both welcome.
Make a weekend of it
Join us on Saturday for live radio demonstrations, callsign patch making, advanced soldering, talks and TOG's open social with pizza.
