Ready to dive into the world of Splunk? Join us for Splunk4Rookies, an in-person workshop where you'll get hands-on experience with Splunk's core features. Participants will work in a guided lab environment to add and analyse data, run searches, create a simple Splunk app, and build an interactive dashboard.

The session is designed for beginners with little or no previous Splunk experience and introduces practical use cases across IT operations, security, DevOps, observability, log management and business analytics. It is a small, practical workshop rather than a general training course, with a focus on helping participants understand where Splunk could bring value in their own organisation.

Who is this workshop for?

Splunk4Rookies is particularly suitable for organisations that are:

• Considering or evaluating Splunk
• Looking to improve visibility across applications, infrastructure or cloud environments
• Exploring SIEM or security monitoring solutions
• Developing observability or log management capabilities
• Evaluating existing monitoring tools
• Looking for better ways to use operational or security data
• Already using Splunk in a limited capacity and exploring additional use cases

The session is especially relevant for IT leaders, security and SOC professionals, DevOps and SRE teams, cloud and infrastructure specialists, architects, IT operations professionals, and people involved in evaluating monitoring, SIEM, security, or observability platforms.

No previous Splunk experience is required.

Please note that this workshop is not intended as general public Splunk training or certification preparation. As places are limited, priority will be given to participants from organisations that are actively exploring Splunk or relevant business and technical use cases.

• Learn how Splunk works with machine and operational data
• Add and analyse sample data
• Create a simple Splunk app
• Run searches and explore data
• Create tables and visualisations

What do you need to bring?

Because this is a hands-on workshop, please bring:

• Your own laptop and charger
• A modern web browser with internet access
• A splunk.com account

Your laptop must be able to connect to the Splunk workshop environment through port 443.

No other technical prerequisites are required.

Meet your host

Veli-Matti "Vellu" Väärälä has been working with Splunk for over ten years. He's a Senior Splunk Consultant at WeAre Solutions, an Elite Splunk Partner, and holds more Splunk certifications than he likes to count.

His day job is working directly with enterprise customers, designing environments, fixing ones that grew too fast, and helping organisations understand what their data is actually doing. The technical part, he'll tell you, is usually the easy part.
He's delivered Splunk training before. He knows where the confusing bits are. That's actually useful.

For the workshop, his job is simpler: to help you connect what you see in the lab with what you'd actually use it for in the real world.

Splunk4Rookies is intentionally organised as a small, hands-on workshop so that participants have enough time to follow the exercises, ask questions and discuss their own use cases.

Submitting a registration does not automatically guarantee participation.

Registrations will be reviewed, and priority will be given to participants from organisations actively exploring Splunk or related use cases across IT operations, security, observability, DevOps or log management.

We will confirm participation separately after registration.
