Applying AI Events in Bucharest

"AI research" and "AI in production" are two pretty different worlds at this point. This page collects events from the production side: how teams integrate LLMs into real products, build agents that are worth trusting, wire up RAG pipelines that don't quietly hallucinate, and ship Copilot-style features without breaking the rest of the app. Agentic coding is a particularly active thread right now, with dedicated meetups and studios popping up across the continent.

This page narrows the Bucharest calendar to Applying AI events. It's a subset of Romania's wider tech-event schedule, useful when you want something specific to go to in the city this month.

Data & AI Meetup: Intelligent by Design, Secure by Default

Bucharest, šŸ‡·šŸ‡“ Romania

Are you ready to enjoy warmer spring evenings together again? We are, and that’s why we’re inviting you to our next Data & AI Engineering applydata Meetup, taking place at our Bucharest office on the 14th May.

Bogdan Beda: "Beyond Syntax: The Evolving Role of the Software Engineer in the AI Era"

Bogdan Beda is a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft, working on *Copilot for Work* backend, on a non-deterministic product using a codebase that is increasingly being generated by AI.
In his presentation, Bogdan will explore the new essential toolkit for the AI era – moving beyond basic prompt engineering to mastering product development, from system design decisions to validating outputs.

Costin Vilcu: "SOC Transformation in the AI Era"
Costin Vilcu is an Information and Network Security Professional with 20+ years of experience, passionate about Penetration Testing, Security Consulting, Teaching and Social Communication.
Costin's presentation explores how Security Operations Centers (SOCs) must evolve in the age of AI, from reactive monitoring to intelligent, autonomous threat detection and response.

Dana Juncu: "The Invisible Threat: How a Sticker on a Traffic Sign Could Compromise Autonomous Vehicles"
Dana Juncu is a Senior Product Manager at Diconium, working at the intersection of data, engineering, and product, owning end-to-end delivery of labeled datasets for ADAS & autonomous driving systems.
In her presentation, Dana will cover why AI security is fundamentally different from traditional software security and what it actually takes to build robust, trustworthy AI in safety-critical domains.

AI Reality Check: Lessons from Research, Product & Engineering

Bucharest, šŸ‡·šŸ‡“ Romania

Three speakers. Three angles. One honest conversation.

During this year’s edition of FOMO – Festival of Modern Owners, RO AI Alliance is hosting a community event, bringing together different perspectives on what AI looks like beyond the headlines: from autonomous research systems, to production-ready AI products, to engineering experiments with new coding workflows.

Alexandru Dan (AI Professor, Ethical AI Ambassador & CEO @ TVL Tech) brings the research lens with a talk on autonomous AI exploration: how AI systems can enter feedback loops, learn from their own outputs, use tools, create subagents, and run experiments with limited human intervention. His session will explore ideas behind Autoresearch / AI That Learns While You Sleep, touching on Claude Projects, self-learning workflows, examples from tools like Suno and online experiments, and the bigger question of how these systems should be guided as they become more autonomous.

Stefania Budulan (AI Technology Lead @ Adobe, with cross-industry consulting experience) brings a builder’s perspective to ā€œBuilding AI That Works: The Decisions Leaders Need to Unlearn.ā€ Drawing on real-world experience delivering AI solutions, her talk reveals why promising demos rarely translate into business impact, and what leaders must rethink to build AI that is reliable, scalable, and actually used.

Tudor Predună (Senior Sensor Fusion Engineer @ Bertrandt Group) brings the engineering lens through a technical field study on vibe coding. His talk will look at how AI-assisted coding changes the way engineers prototype, test, debug, and make decisions. Tudor goes beyond the hype around ā€œcoding with AIā€ and explores where these tools genuinely help, where they create new risks, and what happens when engineering intuition meets AI-generated code in real workflows.

Expect a practical, community-driven evening with people building, studying, and questioning AI from different angles.

Where: AFI Victoriei Plaza, Blvd. Aviatorilor 8A, et. 2
When: 21 May, 18:00.
The event starts at 18:00 with networking and snacks.
The talks will begin at 19:00.
