Architecting for Trust: Resilience & Sovereignty on AWS
About this event
Join us for an evening focused on building trusted cloud architectures — featuring a hands-on resilience workshop, expert talks from AWS, and time to connect with the
community. We’ll explore how organizations can design cloud systems that are resilient, reliable, and sovereign, from implementing resilience patterns on AWS to understanding the difference between resilience and sovereignty in modern cloud architectures. You can join the hands-on workshop, the talk sessions, or — even better — both!

Hands-on Lab:
In this afternoon workshop, guided by AWS architects, you'll work hands-on with Karpenter, the open-source autoscaler for Kubernetes. Resilience starts with capacity: if your cluster can't scale when demand changes, your applications can't stay available. You'll see how Karpenter automatically launches just the right compute resources for your cluster's applications, and how to define and manage your autoscaling policies with NodePools. The right nodes at the right time: you work through real scenarios on your own laptop. Based on AWS Workshop Studio.
Please bring your laptop!
Talks + Speakers
Design Resilient Workloads on AWS (Michael Schmid)
To deal with unexpected events, you have to design your workloads to be resilient. To address this, AWS has developed the Resilience Lifecylce Framework. In this session we will review Resilient Software Design Patterns for building resilient applications, such as graceful degradation, static stability, exponential backoff, and circuit breakers.
Enterprise Claude Code, Built Natively on AWS (Roman Frei)
In this talk, Roman Frei, Product Owner at copebit AG, explains how his team built a private backend that lets engineers use AI coding tools like Claude Code while keeping enterprises compliant, guaranteeing EU data residency, full audit trails, and governance, all built entirely with native AWS services.
Digital Sovereignty - Facts beyond the hype (Dani Caduff)
In this talk, Daniel Caduff, Principal Security Assurance DACH at AWS, explains the difference between resilience and sovereignty in modern cloud architectures.
