Applying AI Events in Edinburgh
"AI research" and "AI in production" are two pretty different worlds at this point. This page collects events from the production side: how teams integrate LLMs into real products, build agents that are worth trusting, wire up RAG pipelines that don't quietly hallucinate, and ship Copilot-style features without breaking the rest of the app. Agentic coding is a particularly active thread right now, with dedicated meetups and studios popping up across the continent.
This page narrows the Edinburgh calendar to Applying AI events. It's a subset of United Kingdom's wider tech-event schedule, useful when you want something specific to go to in the city this month.

Tech Leaders Forum - Leading in the age of AI
Edinburgh, 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
AI is already inside your organisation. Is it working? Join senior tech leaders for an honest conversation about what's really happening.
Leading in the Age of AI: Honest Conversations for Tech Leaders
Most tech leaders aren't short of AI opinions. They're short of honest conversations about what's actually working in reality.
Join CreateFuture for an evening with senior leaders from across the Scottish technology sector who are actively implementing AI inside their organisations - not to talk about the future, but to share what's happening right now. What they're getting right, where they've stumbled, and what they'd do differently.
Your panel
- Lindsay Ratcliffe — Chief Innovation & Transformation Officer, CreateFuture
- Paul Gillespie — Director of Engineering, Skyscanner
- Sarah Thomson — Head of Tech UK, People's Postcode Lottery
- Stuart Bell — Head of AI & Innovation, M&G
We'll cover the things that don't always make it into the case studies:
- How to spot real AI opportunities - and avoid the expensive distractions
- What it actually takes to make AI stick organisationally, not just technically
- Balancing experimentation with governance and accountability
- Building trust with your teams and customers in a world where AI is making real decisions
This isn't a keynote. It's a conversation - with peers navigating the same pressures, making the same trade-offs, in real time.
The evening
6pm - Doors open - networking and light buffet
6:30pm - Welcome and introductions
6:45pm - Panel discussion

Come for the insight. Stay for the people.

May Meetup - Coding the Coder - AI Agents
Edinburgh, 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
Welcome to the EdinburghJS May Meetup! We will be meeting on Tuesday 19th May, 18:30 for light refreshments and talks at the Perk offices, Nova House, 3-5 Ponton Street.
Our talk this month is the rescheduled from Dennis Stanoev on "Coding the Coder"
Modern coding agents feel like magic, but behind every agent is a simple execution loop. In this talk, we’ll work through a small but functional implementation of a coding agent. You'll see exactly how a simple conversation loop, a tool registry, and a file-system harness turn a chat prompt into a “developer".
We are using Luma as our ticketing system for this event. Please RSVP on Luma - if you choose to RSVP on Meetup and share your email with us, then we will transfer your registration to the Luma system where you may get invites for future events.
Space is limited, so keep your RSVP status up to date if your plans change.
We have a Discord server for people to share links, tips, jobs and JavaScript problems — join via the link on Scottish Technology Club.

Our goal is to create a supportive space that encourages women in tech to share, learn, and grow together.
Our first speaker will be Kate Farrell, Director of Curriculum Development and Professional Learning at the University of Edinburgh.
She is an educator with expertise in data science, computing science, digital media computing and moving image education. She works on the Data Education in Schools project developing data and AI literacy lessons, resources and professional learning
for Primary and Secondary schools in Scotland. And she will be doing a talk on AI literacy.
Our second speaker will be Marni Lindsay, a Product Owner at Lloyds Banking Group, with over a decade in financial services and 7 years working in tech in non-engineering roles.
She recently founded 'She Builds with Claude', which is a learning community for women who want to build with AI. She returned from maternity leave 7 months ago, feeling behind on AI. She’s now nominated for Outstanding Returner at the Women in Tech Excellence Awards - for her innovative use of AI and for supporting others. She would like to inspire women to take action even if they don't feel ready, with some thoughts around how and why it's important.
