At Young Engineers, we believe in fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning in every child. Our programs are designed to make STEM exciting and accessible, led by dedicated instructors who are not just teachers, but passionate mentors inspiring young minds.

The Bricks Challenge is an educational program that introduces children to the principles of STEM and the basics of classical mechanics through the use of building blocks and mechanical parts.

Explore two maker-built M5Stack projects, hear from the M5Stack team, and meet fellow builders at Maker Faire Salzburg.

Join OpenELAB and M5Stack for the M5 Fans Meetup at Maker Faire Salzburg. Come hear what fellow makers are building, learn from their projects, and meet the people behind the ideas.

We’ll begin with two makers sharing their M5Stack projects: what they built, how they approached it, and what they learned along the way. A representative from M5Stack will then take the stage, followed by time for questions and conversation.

The meetup is open to M5Stack users, developers, students, educators, electronics enthusiasts, and anyone curious about making with hardware. You don’t need to bring a project to attend.

📡 ¿Y si pudiéramos seguir comunicándonos cuando no hay Internet ni cobertura móvil?
Este taller se realizará como una actividad más del Ibiza Makers Experience 2026, que reunirá en Ibiza a makers, aficionados a la tecnología y personas con ganas de aprender, experimentar y construir.
Meshtastic es una plataforma de comunicación libre y de código abierto que utiliza radio LoRa para crear redes malladas (mesh) independientes de Internet y de las redes de telefonía móvil.
Estas redes permiten intercambiar mensajes y datos directamente entre dispositivos, incluso en lugares sin cobertura, sin necesidad de operadores ni de una infraestructura centralizada. Cada nodo puede comunicarse con otros nodos y ayudar a que la información viaje a través de la red.
Y para conocer esta tecnología, vamos a hacerlo como más nos gusta a los makers: construyendo y experimentando. 🔧😊
El objetivo será que los participantes conozcan los fundamentos de una red Meshtastic y aprendan a montar diferentes tipos de nodos, instalar su firmware, configurarlos y utilizarlos para enviar mensajes y datos.
La agenda que hemos preparado incluye:

1. 📡 ¿Qué es Meshtastic y cómo funciona una red Mesh?
   Conoceremos los fundamentos de Meshtastic, LoRa y las comunicaciones malladas, además del estado actual de la red Meshtastic en Illes Balears.
2. 🔧 ¿Qué tiene un nodo y cómo podemos fabricarlo?
   Abriremos la caja para conocer todos sus componentes: microcontrolador, radio LoRa, antena, batería, electrónica, GPS, sensores y piezas fabricadas mediante impresión 3D.
3. 🛠️ Montaje, instalación y configuración de diferentes nodos
   Trabajaremos de forma práctica con distintos dispositivos y diseños:

• Heltec V3
• SenseCAP T1000-E
• Albastastic PRO
• Albastastic Compact
• XIAO ESP32S3

Veremos cómo instalar Meshtastic, actualizar el firmware, configurar los parámetros básicos y poner cada nodo en funcionamiento.
4. 📶 ¡Ponemos la red a prueba!
Realizaremos pruebas reales de comunicación entre los nodos para comprobar su alcance, el envío de mensajes y cómo estos pueden propagarse a través de una red mesh.
5. 🌍 Apadrina un nodo
Terminaremos planteando diferentes propuestas de apadrinamiento e instalación de nodos que permitan ampliar y mejorar la cobertura de la red Meshtastic en Ibiza y el resto de Illes Balears.

💻 Importante: si puedes, trae tu ordenador portátil. Así podrás instalar las herramientas necesarias, configurar los dispositivos y llevártelo todo preparado para seguir experimentando después del taller.
No es necesario tener experiencia previa con Meshtastic, LoRa o electrónica. Solo ganas de aprender, cacharrear y comunicarte cuando todo lo demás falla.

Most evenings see a group of about 10 people (there is an additional whatsapp list). Bring your laptop if you want to program microcontrollers! We ask for a voluntary donation of €5,55 per evening to maintain the inventory with equipment and electrical components.

These are our regular Monday evening electronics nights. Everyone from absolute beginner to experienced is welcome. These evenings are not classes or tutorials, rather a very friendly informal evening.

We have a wide range of people who come. Some are absolute beginners who do not even work or study electronics, but are interested to know more. Others have something that they are already working on. We almost always have some first time visitors and we always give them a tour of the space.

Come in with your Pi, Arduino, or whatever you have. Bring your laptop. Maybe you want to make something, solder, breadboard or use our electronic gear. Maybe you have some vague ideas and just want to get started. Or maybe you’re just curious……if so, it’s fine to come along and just see what others are doing.

If you would like to get even more involved and have the full use of our space, we would be delighted to have you as a full member. Membership brings many benefits.

We are located behind Mr Price and the Bright Lights store on Kylemore Road. We have lots of free parking available.

Avond 2:
Nu je kennisgemaakt hebt met de basis, gaan we deze avond verder de diepte in. We experimenteren met repeaters (voor meer bereik), room servers (om berichten op te slaan en later op te halen) en gaan we kijken naar analyzers en online dashboards.
Ook gaan we verder spelen met de companion-apps: je telefoon en laptop koppelen, chatten via verschillende kanalen, en ontdekken wat er allemaal mogelijk is als je node echt onderdeel wordt van een groter netwerk.

Praktisch, hands-on en samen uitproberen, geen voorkennis nodig buiten wat je bij Avond 1 hebt geleerd.

Am Mittwoch, 11. November 2026, lädt öbu zum Firmenbesuch bei unserem Mitglied KYBURZ Switzerland AG in Embrach ein. Erlebe vor Ort, wie einer der grössten Schweizer Hersteller von Elektrofahrzeugen Nachhaltigkeit konkret umsetzt, von der Fahrzeugentwicklung über die Produktion bis zum Recycling der Batterien.

KYBURZ ist bekannt vor allem durch die gelben Dreirad-Zustellfahrzeuge für Postorganisationen im In- und Ausland. Nachhaltigkeit ist dabei Teil des Geschäftsmodells: Mit dem MultiLife-Konzept durchlaufen die Batterien mehrere Leben, ausgediente Fahrzeuge werden zu vollwertigen 2ndLife-Fahrzeugen aufbereitet, und in der gemeinsam mit der Empa entwickelten Recyclinganlage gewinnt KYBURZ nach eigenen Angaben bis zu 91 Prozent der Batterie-Rohstoffe zurück, ohne Einsatz von Chemikalien. Das Verfahren hat das Unternehmen bewusst nicht patentiert, sondern offen zugänglich gemacht.

Was du mitnimmst: Konkrete Einblicke, wie sich Kreislaufwirtschaft, Ressourcennutzung und Lieferketten im Produktionsalltag umsetzen lassen, weit über die Elektromobilität hinaus.

The second Wednesday of every month is now a software and microelectronics social as well as our usual public open night - a great opportunity to muck about with like-minded hackers to discuss electronics projects, bounce ideas off each other for your latest coding challenge, or just to pop down and ask for some help getting started!

Everyone welcome - from beginners to advanced. Come talk to us about your home automation projects, bring your empty breadboard to be filled with ideas, or bring your stories of projects past. Ask for some help mastering a programming language - or find out you're the relative expert in the room, and offer others light instructionals* on the subject. Bring your Python, your JavaScript, your Go and your Rust - or regale us with C/C++ and 6502 Assembly. Your Robot Vacuum or your blinkenlights, your Raspberry Pi's, your Arduinos, your ESP32s..

fizzPOP has a well-stocked electronics room and some great spaces to crack out your laptop, so if you're not a member then this is a great time to pop down and check it out - and if you are a member, this is a great chance to get cracking with all the tools and equipment.

Curious about 3D design and how to create useful, precise models of your own?

Join us for a beginner-friendly introduction to Onshape, an online 3D modelling tool used for parametric design.

During the workshop, you’ll learn how to create and shape simple 3D objects, work with measurements and parameters, and get familiar with some of the key tools in Onshape. The aim is to give you enough of a foundation to continue experimenting and designing on your own afterwards.

No previous experience with 3D design is needed.

Azure IoT Operations and Fabric app, living together in electric dreams - Sander Van de Velde

In the 1980s synth-pop hit "Together in Electric Dreams," the lyrics tell of a connection that transcends physical distance through a shared vision. Today’s industrial landscape faces a similar challenge: Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) have long been "miles apart," separated by legacy protocols and data silos. This presentation demonstrates how Microsoft’s ecosystem finally brings these worlds into perfect sync.

The journey begins at the edge with Azure IoT Operations. By leveraging Azure Arc-enabled services, we synchronise chaotic data from industrial protocols into a clean, unified stream. This creates the "Electric Dream", a digital heartbeat of the factory that is consistent, scalable, and cloud-ready.

Once the data flows, we transition to Microsoft Fabric Real-Time Intelligence (RTI). If IoT Operations is the nervous system, Fabric RTI is the brain. We explore how the Real-Time Hub captures high-frequency events using KQL (Kusto Query Language) and visualizes them.

Finally, Microsoft Fabric Apps is introduced as a pro-code layer for visualizations and taking action. This way, we can go beyond what Fabric offers for end users and citizen developers.

By the end of this session, attendees will see that through edge connectivity, IT and OT will "always be together" in a seamless, electric dream of operational excellence.

This session is for data professionals, architects, and Fabric enthusiasts who want to see how Real-Time Intelligence becomes truly powerful when streaming analytics, vibe coding, and business context come together.

Hello, his name is Sander, short for Alexander.

For eleven consecutive years, Sander has been honored with the 2017-2026 Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award for his contributions to the Azure IoT (2017-2026) and Real-Time Analytics (2024-2026) communities.

He specializes in Microsoft Azure IoT solutions. He is involved with all aspects of the Azure IoT Platform, together with Microsoft Fabric Real-Time Intelligence. He works on IoT innovations, adding IoT value by working together with clients, partners, Microsoft product groups, and the community.

For him, it is important to share knowledge because this, in turn, yields new knowledge. He is committed to this by writing blogs, articles for magazines, workshops, and giving lots of presentations. He also works together with the Azure IoT and Fabric RTI product teams on several topics.

He is a Principal IoT Architect, and he advises customers regarding IoT projects in his daily work for the SDG group (an ALTEN company). ALTEN is a consulting and engineering organization for the high-tech sector. SDG Group is the catalyst of innovation, combining its unique Data & AI approach to business challenges with the synergies and reach of a truly global firm.

Leon and Christopher will give us a look at what Nouma is building, why they started the company, and where they want to take it.

The main part will be technical: we'll dig into the systems, software, and engineering behind their approach to autonomous robotics. But we'll also hear some of the startup story around it - what problem they're solving, where they see the market going, and what's next for Nouma.
A good chance to see both sides of building a robotics company: the technology and the business around it.

Karim will bring along one of his maker projects and show us what he's been building, how it works, and what he learned along the way.

Startup meets hacker/maker - which feels like a pretty good combination for a robotics meetup.

Have you ever wondered what the tall masts at Wychbold, near Drotiwich are or were used for? They are visible for miles around, especially on clear nights when the red aircraft warning lights on them are clearly visible. If so, then come to hear about their history. As a little background, the site was a transmitting station for both medium and long wave radio for much of the last 100years. They provided coverage across a large area of the country so many generations of radio listeners would have depended on their broadcasts, prior to the use of VHF radio.

Dave Porter G4OYX joined the BBC Transmitter Dept as an 18 year old Technical Assistant in 1970 and after training at Evesham and Daventry continued there for a further two years transferring to Droitwich Transmitter in 1972.

After qualifying as an Engineer in 1974, the next station was Washford in Somerset followed by a spell in TV Transmitters at Holme Moss. Then in 1975 a return to radio at Westerglen in Scotland and then a permanent base at Daventry.

After marrying the Station Cook at Daventry we both went to Brookmans Park in Hertfordshire just 18 months before the MF frequency changes in November 1978.

As is often the case modernisation results in automation so a move to the BBC-operated "Voice of America HF Relay Station in the UK" at Woofferton was made in 1982.

30 years later I retired only to return some 11 years later in 2023 for 18 months to supervise the removal of a Marconi 250 kW HF sender from 1963 and installation of a Riz 250 kW sender from 2009 transferred in from the BBC Singapore HF relay upon its closure.

Our son Matt is now a Transmitter Engineer at what is now Encompass Woofferton having been an Installation Technician there in 2008 for 22 months after University.

Teilnehmerzahl

Maximal 20 Teilnehmer, damit genügend Zeit für Fragen, Diskussionen und vor allem fürs Arbeiten an der Konsole bleibt.

Zwei Tage Live-Mixing mit einem klaren Ziel: weniger trockene Theorie, sondern gemeinsam neue Ideen, Sichtweisen und Workflows entwickeln – und das Gelernte direkt an der Konsole ausprobieren.

Das Workshop-Konzept ist bewusst anders aufgebaut als eine klassische Produktschulung. Wir starten jedes Thema gemeinsam im Plenum, zeigen unsere Herangehensweise, diskutieren verschiedene Lösungsansätze und erklären die Hintergründe. Danach geht's direkt an die Konsolen. Dort kannst du alles selbst ausprobieren, Fragen stellen, experimentieren und deinen eigenen Workflow entwickeln.

Uns geht es nicht darum, dass am Ende alle exakt gleich arbeiten. Viel spannender ist der Austausch unterschiedlicher Denkweisen und Erfahrungen – denn genau daraus entstehen oft die besten Ideen für den nächsten Job.

Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Konsolen SQ+, Avantis und dLive – vom ersten Showfile bis zum fertigen Mix.

• Kurzüberblick über das Allen & Heath Portfolio
• Wo liegen die Unterschiede zwischen SQ+, Avantis und dLive?
• Stageboxen, Karten und Expander – was passt eigentlich womit zusammen?
• Was bringen Features wie dPack, IP Controller oder Custom Control?
• Wie baue ich ein Showfile sinnvoll auf?
• Patch-Struktur, Farben, Layouts, DCAs, Mute Groups und Bus-Strukturen

Jetzt seid ihr dran.

Ihr bekommt eine Konsole, eine Bandliste und einen Zeitplan. Eure Aufgabe: Baut ein sauberes, arbeitsfähiges FOH-Showfile auf. Kein Demo-Klicken, sondern genau so, wie ihr es auf einer echten Produktion machen würdet.

Nachmittag

Jetzt geht's ans Mischen.

• Gain-Struktur und Headamp-Workflow
• HPF, EQ, Gate und Kompressor sinnvoll einsetzen
• Drums, Bass, Gitarren, Keys und Vocals strukturiert aufbauen
• Effekte einsetzen, die den Mix wirklich nach vorne bringen

Einfach mal mischen.

Mit hochwertigen Multitracks kannst du in Ruhe ausprobieren, vergleichen und experimentieren. Welcher Kompressor passt wann? Was bringt Parallelkompression? Wo liegen die Grenzen? Genau dafür nehmen wir uns Zeit.

Abschluss Tag 1

Gemeinsam schauen wir auf den Tag zurück. Was hat gut funktioniert? Welche Fragen sind offen geblieben? Welche Aha-Momente gab es? Und natürlich diskutieren wir auch unterschiedliche Lösungsansätze.

Tag 2 – Avantis & dLive: Workflow & Showtime
Mit Sascha Kohl oder Daniel Lauer

Vormittag

Heute holen wir aus Avantis und dLive alles raus.

• Konsolenlayouts sinnvoll gestalten
• Mit mehreren Screens und Layern arbeiten
• SoftKeys und Rotaries so belegen, dass sie zu deinem Workflow passen
• Die Konsole so vorbereiten, dass du im Livebetrieb möglichst wenig suchen musst

Praxisblock 3

Jeder richtet sich eine Konsole so ein, wie er später auch arbeiten möchte. Layouts ausprobieren, SoftKeys testen und herausfinden, welche Plattform am besten zum eigenen Workflow passt.

Nachmittag

Jetzt geht's um Geschwindigkeit.

Denn je weniger Zeit du für Standardaufgaben brauchst, desto mehr Zeit bleibt für das, was wirklich zählt: den Mix.

Wir schauen uns unter anderem an:

• A/B/C/D Inputs
• Channel- und Mix Libraries
• DCA- und MCA-Workflows
• Group-to-Group Routing
• Copy, Paste und Reset
• Szenenmanagement – einfacher als viele denken

Praxisblock 4

Zum Schluss wird's sportlich.

Eine kleine Challenge zeigt, wie schnell du inzwischen an der Konsole arbeitest. Natürlich steht der Spaß im Vordergrund – aber ein kleiner Anreiz schadet nie.

Zum Abschluss tauschen wir unsere Erfahrungen aus, sammeln die größten Aha-Momente und beantworten die letzten offenen Fragen.

Richard hols a Batchelor of Technology (Education) in Materials and Architectural Technology from the University of Limerick, and combines a strong background in technical education with practical surveying experience.

• Secondary school teacher specialising in construction-related subjects, with experience delivering technical and practical instruction in materials, architectural technology, and measurement principles.
• 5 year's hands-on experience working with modern surveying equipment, including instrment set up, and field data collection in practical surveying application.
• Strong technical foundation in materials and arcitectural technlogy, enabling him to clearly explain surveying concepts, site measurement techniques, and best practices for learners.

To maintain a high-quality learning environment, places are limited to 4 participants per session. A minimum of 2 participants is required for the course to proceed.
