Cybersecurity & InfoSec Events in Europe

European infosec has its own character: community-run, less vendor-dominated than its US counterpart, and unusually healthy at the meetup layer. This page tracks the conferences, BSides events, OWASP chapter meetings, AppSec sessions, red-team/blue-team meetups, and capture-the-flag gatherings that make up that scene.

At the large end, you'll find Black Hat EU, Hack.lu, Hack in Paris, NorthSec, CONFidence (Kraków), No Hat (Italy), FOSDEM's security track, and the BSides family that covers cities across the continent (Porto, Budapest, Kraków, Luxembourg, Prague, and beyond). At the community end, OWASP chapter meetups run in every significant tech city, alongside HackTheBox community meetups, Cyber Fresque awareness events, and active local groups for cloud security, cryptography, and reverse engineering. The Chaos Computer Club congresses and related hacker-culture events live in the adjacent Hacker & Maker category rather than here, since the audience and tone are distinct.

Topics span the real breadth of the field: web and mobile AppSec, cloud security (the Kubernetes and AWS attack surfaces in particular), threat modeling, incident response, malware analysis, red teaming, hardware hacking, privacy and cryptography, plus the policy/regulatory tracks that have grown around NIS2, the Cyber Resilience Act, and related European frameworks. Brainberg aggregates these into one feed, so the full European schedule lives in a single view.

Agenda

  • 17:00 Doors open
  • 17:30 Live virtual speaker: Steve Borosh
Continuous Offensive Recon: Tightening the OODA Loop with AI-Driven Data Enrichment for Red Team Operations
Traditional penetration tests, assumed-compromise assessments, and red team engagements still treat reconnaissance as a discrete, time-boxed phase at the beginning of the assessment. In reality, modern environments change hourly, files change, credentials rotate, people join and leave, and defensive controls evolve. Static recon snapshots quickly go stale, forcing operators to restart the intelligence cycle under pressure. This talk presents Continuous Offensive Recon as the solution: a persistent, closed-loop intelligence capability that provides offensive operators with actionable intelligence at every phase of the assessment.
Raw data from passive recon, active scanning, file share searching, C2 exfiltration, user behavior, and open-source intelligence is abundant. What separates elite operators is the ability to continuously enrich that data, surface hidden relationships between obscure technical and human data points, and convert noise into prioritized, high-fidelity attack paths in near real time.
We will walk through exactly how to build and operate this capability using a practical, open-source-heavy stack that the audience can start implementing immediately:
With the industry moving towards more “Continuous Penetration Testing” as BHIS has adopted, offensive operators are moving from periodic assessments to a living, intelligence-gathering assessment that paired with the OODA loop decision cycle, and continuous reconnaissance, keeps operators ahead of their target networks.
  • 18:30 intermission
  • 19:00 in-person speaker: Julian B. Let Him Cook! Hacking the Meatmeet BBQ Probe
With grilling season upon us, each and every grillmaster is eagerly preparing their tools… but little do some know, their “smart” meat probes may have some glaring vulnerabilities that could leave them cooked. In this presentation we will disassemble, dump the flash, and decompile the mobile application of the Meatmeet BBQ probes to find countless vulnerabilities. From an open S3 bucket with the profile photo of every grill master, poorly salted passwords, to never-before-seen devices, and even remote code execution, Julian will walk you through the platter of vulnerabilities he found. This will illustrate the importance of IoT security, because the last thing you want is for your beautiful BBQ to be burnt to a crisp! As a Senior Penetration Tester at Software Secured, Julian hunts for vulnerabilities across a range of clients and products. Off hours, he spends his time performing vulnerability research against IoT devices and FOSS, amassing over 50 CVEs in the past several years. Previous work includes exploiting the Furbo devices, to find 20+ vulnerabilities, discovering more than 130,000 Claude, Grok, ChatGPT, and Other LLM Chats Readable on Archive.org (https://www.404media.co/more-than-130-000-claude-grok-chatgpt-and-other-llm-chats-readable-on-archive-org/), as well as being featured by 404Media in the article: Grok Exposes Underlying Prompts for Its AI Personas: ‘EVEN PUTTING THINGS IN YOUR ***’ (https://www.404media.co/grok-exposes-underlying-prompts-for-its-ai-personas-even-putting-things-in-your-ass/)

Whether you are a seasoned professional in the security industry or simply interested in learning more about hacking and technology, this meetup is the perfect opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and expand your knowledge. Don't miss out on this chance to enhance your understanding of cybersecurity and contribute to a safer digital environment for all.

Talk Abstracts:

Talk 1 - AI Pentesting by Andy Hornegold
A talk about Pentesting

Speaker Bio:
Name: Andy Hornegold
Title: Chief Security Technologist at Intruder
Bio: Andy has a long career in cyber security including a decade in threat simulation and consulting. He’s worked with some of the largest organisations and brands across most industries and sectors, advising how to defend themselves against advanced threat actors. Career highlights include being the Assurance Regional Lead at one of the UK's leading cyber security consultancies, managing a team of 30 cyber security consultants, and helping critical national infrastructure providers stay secure.

Talk 2 - A Deep Dive into SAML by Glyn Wintle
Glyn will explain how SAML works (yes there will be lots of xkcd cartoons), the flaws found in standard deployments and give example in most implementations, walk through some of the attack/defence techniques that work with any xml based protocol and digital signatures before going deeper into some more technobabble just for you.

Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML, pronounced sam-el) is an XML-based, open-standard data format for exchanging authentication and authorization data between parties, in particular, between an identity provider and a service provider. Think enterprise single sign on, used by governments, large companies, web sites, what could possibly go wrong?

Speaker Bio:
Glyn is CTO at Tradecraft. They are security consultancy, specialising in attack.
Tradecraft helps organisations to become more secure by breaching their systems in the same way as criminal hackers, and then working with them over the long term to help fix what they find, and to help them get better at finding and fixing things for themselves.

Glyn has been in security for over ten years, and before that he used to program. He has appeared before parliament to give evidence on some of the more crazy laws they have introduced connected to the internet, and has worked with the Open Rights Group lobbying on trying to fix some of them.

Cybersecurity voor het media-ecosysteem

Vilvoorde, 🇧🇪 Belgium

PBIMCR presents 'A Case Study on PBI & Security Analytics in Fabric & PBI'

Manchester, 🇬🇧 United Kingdom

Join us for June's PBIMCR meet-up

When: Thursday 25th of June 2026

Location: Slalom, 17 Marble Steet, M2 3AW

Duncan Boyne
“Can Someone Turn the Heating On? An Accidental Case Study in Power BI”

A manufacturing company had a problem.

Their internal testing failure rate sat comfortably below 1%. Their customers, however, were seeing replacement rates as high as 15%.

The strange part? It wasn’t consistent.

Some customers barely experienced issues at all. Others saw failures come in waves. Summer spikes. Winter spikes. Complaints would rise, disappear, then return again months later.

  • The data looked good.
  • The engineers were smart.
  • The dashboards were working.
  • So why was the real-world experience telling a completely different story?

In this interactive session, I’ll walk through the accidental investigation that uncovered the issue, not through advanced AI, complex modelling, or some magical DAX formula, but through curiosity, context, and asking what felt like very dumb questions.

Questions like:

  • What’s different between testing and storage?
  • What happens after the product leaves the workshop floor?
  • Why are certain customers affected more than others?
  • And eventually:
  • Why is nobody putting the heating on?

This session is part Power BI story, part consultancy lesson, and part reminder that data professionals are not just report builders, we are storytellers. Sometimes the numbers only make sense when you step away from the dashboard and start understanding the humans, processes, and assumptions behind them.

You’ll leave with a practical framework of questions every consultant and analyst should ask, along with a different perspective on how to approach problem solving, stakeholder conversations, and the stories hidden inside your data.

Darlington Chigozie Okeke
'Security Analytics with Microsoft Fabric & Power BI'

Machine-learning-based malware detection systems generate large volumes of structured and semi-structured data: behavioural features, anomaly scores, classification outputs, and confidence metrics. While much attention is given to building detection models, far less focus is placed on how these outputs are operationalised, analysed, and communicated at scale. This is where Microsoft Fabric and Power BI become critical.

In this session, I present a deep technical walkthrough of transforming ML-based malware detection outputs into a scalable analytics solution using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, based on my MSc Cyber Security research into heuristic-based Trojan detection on Windows.

The talk focuses on:

  • Designing Fabric Lakehouse schemas for ML-generated security telemetry

  • Modelling detection outputs (labels, probabilities, feature scores) as analytical fact tables

  • Using Spark SQL and T-SQL for feature aggregation, windowed analysis, and trend extraction

  • Building semantic models optimised for high-cardinality, time-series security data

  • Writing advanced DAX measures for detection accuracy, false positives, and behavioural drift

  • Visualising long-term trends and anomalies using Power BI dashboards

Rather than revisiting ML theory, the emphasis is on data modelling, analytics engineering, and performance optimisation within Fabric and Power BI. While the data originates from a security context, the architectural patterns demonstrated apply equally to observability, fraud detection, and other event-driven analytics workloads.

This session is aimed at Power BI and Fabric practitioners who want to push beyond traditional BI scenarios and work with complex, real-world analytical data.

Topics Covered: Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Analysis Services, Azure AI, OneLake, Real-Time Data

1st time attendees what to expect:
Engaging tech talks/demos/presentations and an opportunity to network in a friendly community environment with complimentary drinks and pizza served.
