Cybersecurity Events in Leuven
European infosec has its own character: community-run, less vendor-dominated than its US counterpart, and unusually healthy at the meetup layer. This page tracks the conferences, BSides events, OWASP chapter meetings, AppSec sessions, red-team/blue-team meetups, and capture-the-flag gatherings that make up that scene.
This page narrows the Leuven calendar to Cybersecurity events. It's a subset of Belgium's wider tech-event schedule, useful when you want something specific to go to in the city this month.

VISD Launch Event & Info Session on Cybersecurity Project Opportunities
Leuven, 🇧🇪 Belgium
Discover upcoming cybersecurity innovation projects and explore opportunities to contribute, collaborate, or join a consortium.
Cybersecurity in the Flemish Innovation and Defense Landscape
Cybersecurity plays a prominent role in the Flemish innovation landscape – also in light of protecting Critical Infrastructure and in the context of Cyber Defense. Flanders is developing and launching a specific program in this context, the Flemish Innovation and Industry Strategy for Security and Defense (VISD). This program aims to stimulate and support industrial innovation projects that align with strategic priorities in cybersecurity and defense.
VISD Cybersecurity Launch Event
At the VISD Cybersecurity launch event, we will
- present the current Cybersecurity for Defense roadmap
- bring together relevant research and industrial partners,
- discuss funding opportunities for research and development in this area.
New Cybersecurity projects are started, additional ones are currently being scoped and prepared.
As part of this event, the Cybersecurity research Consortium will showcase a selection of recent projects focused on knowledge transfer and collaborative research. Attendants can discover upcoming cybersecurity innovation projects and explore opportunities to contribute, collaborate, or join a consortium.
The cybersecurity research consortium aims to launch at least five new projects in Fall 2026 and Spring 2027
Target Audience and Objectives
On June 18, this information and brokerage session will present key insights into the VISD program and provide an overview of new projects currently under development and preparation for submission.
This session is intended for interested industry stakeholders, and offers participants the opportunity to:
- share their needs and ambitions
- contribute ideas and expertise
- provide feedback
- explore opportunities to join emerging consortia
Cybersecurity progress and innovation rely on knowledge transfer, validation of new techniques, and close collaboration among stakeholders. VLAIO supports a wide range of collaborative projects that address these needs and strengthen the ecosystem.
Practical Information
The information session starts at 15:00 and is followed by a networking reception at 17:00, offering additional opportunities for informal discussions.
Please register by June 15.

Unbreaking Access Control with AI Coding Agents?
Leuven, 🇧🇪 Belgium
Can AI coding agents help us fix access control—or are they just making things worse?
Unbreaking Access Control with AI Coding Agents ?
Broken access control continues to be one of the most critical and pervasive vulnerabilities in modern web and application security. Despite decades of awareness, it remains at the top of incident reports and real-world breaches.
In this interactive workshop, we explore a provocative question:
Can AI coding assistants help us fix access control—or are they just making things worse?
What to expect
- A concise overview of why access control keeps breaking
- Real-world examples of common and subtle authorization flaws
- Hands-on insights into how AI-assisted development impacts security
- Demonstrations showing how AI tools generate (in)secure access control logic
Who should attend
- Software engineers and architects
- Security engineers and AppSec professionals
- Researchers and students interested in secure development
- Anyone curious about the intersection of AI and software security
