Software Engineering Events in Europe
This is the widest category on Brainberg, because software engineering itself spans a huge range of events: language user groups (Python, Rust, Go, TypeScript, Kotlin, Elixir, Ruby, Zig), framework communities (React, Svelte, Next.js, Vue, Laravel, Django, NixOS), backend architecture tracks, testing and QA tracks (ISTQB certification courses, mutation testing, test-automation workshops), refactoring and DDD circles, hackathons, and the long tail of "thoughtful engineering" meetups that don't fit neatly under any specific stack.
The community layer is broader than just language meetups. Women-in-Tech groups are active in most major cities (IT Women Talks, SheTech, Women in Tech Glasgow, REAL TALK and more), CoderDojo chapters run youth coding sessions across Europe, and the after-work/tech-social rhythm (Afterwork Drinks, Tech Mixers, Code Review evenings) fills out the week between structured meetups. GOTO Copenhagen, International JavaScript Conference Munich, Code BEAM Stockholm, Heapcon Belgrade, and Devoxx anchor the conference side.
Every major European tech city runs a weekly rotation of these. Berlin's Rust and Go scenes are deep; Amsterdam and London have strong functional programming communities; Paris runs some of the best TypeScript and full-stack events on the continent; the Nordic cities punch above their weight on language design and systems programming. Dublin, Barcelona, Lisbon, Zurich, and Munich each sustain multiple active user groups. Because "software engineering" is so broad, this page is most useful when you combine it with a location filter. Brainberg aggregates all of this, so the full schedule for a given city shows up in one view instead of scattered across separate platforms.

Standing Out In A Crowd
Learn how to grab attention and make your mark without blending into the background.
Applying for more jobs isn't always the answer.
Many qualified candidates spend hours tailoring resumes, writing cover letters, and submitting applications, only to hear nothing back. It's frustrating, but it doesn't always mean you're underqualified. In many cases, it means you're blending in with hundreds of other applicants.
This Job Search Masterclass looks at what helps candidates rise above the noise in today's competitive job market. Instead of relying on outdated advice, we'll explore practical job search strategies that help you become a stronger candidate and make a more memorable impression.
We'll explore topics like:
- Why qualified candidates still get overlooked
- What recruiters notice during the hiring process
- Common job search habits that waste time
- Ways to position your experience more effectively
- How to focus your efforts where they can have the greatest impact
The goal isn't to apply for every opportunity you can find. It's to approach your job search with a strategy that helps you stand out for the right reasons.
Due to the differing nature of job search processes, this event is for attendees within the United States. Recorded events will be added to our blog: https://www.computercoach.com/blog
66. Hackergarten Stuttgart
Stuttgart, 🇩🇪 Germany
🇬🇧👇

🇬🇧
We host the Hackergarten at the codecentric office in Stuttgart, an entertaining and open workspace where we work together on various open source projects in a relaxed setting.
You can bring your own projects, which we will be happy to support you with and which we can discuss and work on together.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in a relaxed atmosphere with enough food and drinks to work together on great projects and share our knowledge. All you need is your own laptop to work with.
What is a Hackergarten?
Hackergarten is a crafter's workshop, classroom, a laboratory, a social circle, a writing group, a playground, and an artist's studio. Our goal is to create something that others can use; whether it be working software, improved documentation, or better educational materials. Our intent is to end each meeting with a patch or similar contribution submitted to an open and public project. Membership is open to anyone willing to contribute their time.

August Meetup: Interactive Audio
Berlin, 🇩🇪 Germany
On the 4th of August we will host the next iteration of our monthly Audio Developer Meetup, where Robyn Pacetti from Protagonists! will be sharing their journey of creating a new kind of interactive audio experience. For our short talk, Fernando Garcia will present their latest research on detecting AI-generated content in hybrid music mixtures.
As always, there will be a chance to network over drinks and pizza. Anyone interested in Audio development is welcome!
Doors open at 18:00, talks start at 18:15.
Please note: Attendance is strictly limited to people who have RSVP'd.
Long talk details
A journey to create interactive, imaginary audio worlds - Robyn Pacetti
What if we could explore imaginary worlds without looking at a screen? Explore environments, engage with characters, be the protagonist — interact with an imaginary world you don't just listen to, but move through and shape through your choices. The founder of Protagonists! talks about her journey creating a new kind of interactive audio experience: the vision, the goals, how it works, what they've built so far, some of the challenges, and what doors this new kind of experience might open — for people and for the audio space.
About the speaker
Robyn Pacetti is the Founder of Protagonists!, an early-stage bootstrapped venture actively building a new kind of interactive audio entertainment: imaginary worlds you step into and shape through your choices — ScreenFree, no graphics. It's a return to the oldest way humans have told stories — by voice, with the listener imagining the world into being — but with agency, so you don't just listen, you act. After 25 years in the games industry (Amazon, Ubisoft, Wooga), Robyn now works at the frontier of interactive entertainment.
Short talk details
How Much AI Is in This Track? Detecting AI-Generated Content in Hybrid Music Mixtures - Fernando Garcia
AI-generated music is reshaping the music industry. By early 2026, it made up around 44% of daily uploads on Deezer, and studies suggest most listeners can't tell it apart from human-made recordings. This has driven a major research effort on automatic detection, almost all of which asks one binary question: is this track AI or human? State-of-the-art detectors now hit over 99% accuracy on that question.
But that isn't how AI actually shows up in modern production. Producers use it as a modular tool: an AI drum loop combined with a synthetic bassline and a human singer's voice. The result is hybrid material that's neither fully human nor fully AI, exactly the case the binary framing can't describe.
This talk covers Fernando's work reframing detection for that reality. Instead of a yes/no label, they treat it as a regression problem: estimating a continuous AI energy ratio, the fraction of a track's acoustic energy that comes from AI stems. Fernando will explain why these detectors work at all (they exploit subtle spectral fingerprints left by neural audio codecs), and show how a model trained to estimate that ratio reveals patterns a binary detector misses entirely.
The broader takeaway: near-perfect binary accuracy is not evidence that a detector is ready for realistic, mixed-content music. As AI becomes a normal part of production, the question worth asking isn't whether a track is AI, but how much.
About the speaker
Fernando Garcia de la Cruz is ML Engineer at seeqnc, working on AI detection. His interests range across generative models, music information retrieval, and real-time audio software, with a focus on building practical tools for musicians and technologists.
He holds an MSc in Sound and Music Computing from the Music Technology Group (MTG), Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, and a BSc in Electronics Engineering from Instituto Politécnico Nacional in Mexico City. He began his career as a software and data engineer in consultancy before moving into audio and music research, working on real-time audio tools and libraries at Dolby Laboratories, AI-generated music detection at BMAT, audio plugins at the MTG with the Essentia library, and most recently as a research intern at Sony CSL Paris. He has also spoken at the Audio Developer Conference and contributes to the Sound of AI community.

👉 What are Lightning Talks?
Lightning talks are short, fast-paced community talks lasting around 10–15 minutes each. They’re a fantastic way to share knowledge, ideas, experiences, demos, tools, side projects, lessons learned, or even just something interesting you’ve discovered recently.
This evening is all about giving members of the community an opportunity to:
- Share knowledge and help others learn
- Try public speaking in a relaxed and supportive environment
- Show off something cool they’ve been working on
- Spark conversations and ideas with fellow developers
- Get involved in the local tech community
You do not need to be an experienced speaker to take part — some of the best talks come from people simply sharing something practical or interesting they’ve recently worked on.
Possible topics could include:
- A library or framework you’ve been enjoying
- AI tooling or developer productivity tips
- Cloud, architecture, or DevOps ideas
- Lessons learned from a recent project
- Fun side projects
- Quick technical deep dives
- Things that went wrong and what you learned from them
Whether you want to give your first ever talk or share something you’re passionate about, this will be a fun, relaxed, and community-focused evening.
Interested in speaking? Message one of the organisers with your talk idea!

[ONLINE] Hermes installation and getting started
So, you want to try Hermes Agent by Nous Research but you're having issues getting started? Hermes is the most advanced AI Agent, it can run any model you give it, and if it can be done with a computer, it can be done by Hermes!
At our last event, Shahmeer Chaudhry used Hermes on the spot in front of a packed room of people to find the best place at 8am to fill a car with unleaded 95 petrol.
It went online and used websites to automatically find the best time, wrote code to automate the collection, then texted his phone once it had found a solution.
Seems strange, even a little ridiculous? It is, but Hermes can do practically anything you give it, especially including using the internet like a human being, and any problems it encounters it will write code to overcome the issue. Really your imagination is the limit when it comes to this incredible technology. Anything repetitive you want to automate, it will do for you.
In this workshop, we'll sit and install with you in breakout rooms Hermes on your computer or device of choosing, even in a server context so it can run itself without your computer being online. Once you're set up with it, it'll be there for you to use it however you like.
Thank you and we hope you attend!
