Software Engineering Events in Ghent
This is the widest category on Brainberg, because software engineering itself spans a huge range of events: language user groups (Python, Rust, Go, TypeScript, Kotlin, Elixir, Ruby, Zig), framework communities (React, Svelte, Next.js, Vue, Laravel, Django, NixOS), backend architecture tracks, testing and QA tracks (ISTQB certification courses, mutation testing, test-automation workshops), refactoring and DDD circles, hackathons, and the long tail of "thoughtful engineering" meetups that don't fit neatly under any specific stack.
This page narrows the Ghent calendar to Software Engineering events. It's a subset of Belgium's wider tech-event schedule, useful when you want something specific to go to in the city this month.

Digital Independence Day
Ghent, 🇧🇪 Belgium
On the first Sunday of every month, people everywhere meet to celebrate Digital Independence Day.
https://di.day/en
The hard part is rarely the technology. The hard part is the network effect: school chats on WhatsApp, family on Facebook, political debates on X. Switching alone means cutting yourself off from all of that.
That’s exactly why we have Digital Independence Day: a fixed date when many people take the same step at the same time. On the first Sunday of every month, we take a small step, talk about it, and bring our friends along:
- Switch – try an alternative
- Talk about it – post, write, brag a bit. #DIDit
- Bring others along – your friends, family, and colleagues. Whether the kindergarten WhatsApp group comes too is up to you.
OVHcloud community meet-up
Ghent, 🇧🇪 Belgium

(IN-PERSON) Fabric Apps & Breaking Away from Data Warehousing
Ghent, 🇧🇪 Belgium
This is an In-Person Evening Session
Detailed information and registration can be found here :
https://dataminds.be/fabric-apps-breaking-away-from-datawarehousing/
Speaker: Gille Buyle
Every few years, a new technology arrives that changes how we build data solutions. Fabric Apps is the latest promise in this field. Depending on who you ask, it might replace traditional Power BI reports altogether, empower every analyst to build applications through AI, and fundamentally change the role of developers.
That’s a big promise.
In this session, we’ll take a step back and evaluate Fabric Apps from the perspective of a Power BI developer. Using a practical use case, we’ll look at what the technology can do today, where it fits within the Fabric ecosystem, and where it still falls short. The goal isn’t to prove that Fabric Apps are revolutionary, or to dismiss them as just a hype. Instead I’d like to develop an honest view of the opportunities, limitations, and the role they may realistically play in the future of analytics.”
