Brainberg

Software Engineering Events in Porto

This is the widest category on Brainberg, because software engineering itself spans a huge range of events: language user groups (Python, Rust, Go, TypeScript, Kotlin, Elixir, Ruby, Zig), framework communities (React, Svelte, Next.js, Vue, Laravel, Django, NixOS), backend architecture tracks, testing and QA tracks (ISTQB certification courses, mutation testing, test-automation workshops), refactoring and DDD circles, hackathons, and the long tail of "thoughtful engineering" meetups that don't fit neatly under any specific stack.

This page narrows the Porto calendar to Software Engineering events. It's a subset of Portugal's wider tech-event schedule, useful when you want something specific to go to in the city this month.

The most effective - and successful - PMs & PM Leaders are the ones that know how to directly connect their work with the things that your executives & investors care the most about – how to really ‘move the needle’ on your business.

In our session, we’re going to do a deep dive on the Metrics That Matter and how to deliver more product value and ROI from the investment your company has made in your PM team.

But more than merely listening to a talk about it, we will roll up our sleeves and do an interactive exercise that shows you how.

We will introduce some common business metrics categories and use the Solution Tree (‘How Might We’) model to plan our product features. And we’ll have some fun in the process!

We’ll wrap up with Q&A, networking, and drinks with the ProductTank Porto community.

The Engineering Managers Support Group

Porto, 🇵🇹 Portugal

Sword Health and Leadcraft present: The Engineering Managers Support Group

📅 May 18, 18h30 📍 Sword Health, Porto

Looking for the one true guide to perfect engineering management? You won't find it here.

Engineering management sits at the intersection of code, product strategy, and human dynamics. Most of the time, we're winging it. There's no silver bullet, no playbook that works for everyone in every situation, and it can get lonely.

So what's the best we can do? Learn from each other.

That's why we're hosting the Engineering Managers Support Group, a peer-to-peer meetup designed to pull us out of our silos and into a space of honest conversation.

How it works

Forget keynote speakers and slide decks. We're keeping it simple and human. You'll break into groups of ~6 to tackle the reality of day-to-day work. This is not a passive event: expect to participate, share, and engage with others.

The session has two parts:

Part 1: The Struggle
Go around the table and share the challenges you're currently wrestling with. Constant context switching, endless meetings, team frustration, tech debt, imposter syndrome. Everything is on the table.

Part 2: The Toolkit
Pivot to problem solving. Share what has actually worked for you. Tools, frameworks, scripts, conversations. Whatever has helped you navigate these waters.
We'll close by sharing conclusions across the room, then enjoy some pizza and beer.

Why attend

Hopefully, you will walk away with a wider set of approaches to use in your day-to-day, but mostly with the comfort of knowing that you aren't the only one struggling with these problems.

Porto Tech COnnect

Porto, 🇵🇹 Portugal

Meet top tech companies and teams in Porto and network with professionals!

Porto Tech Connect – May Edition

📍 Location: Devexperts Porto
🎤 Talk: “Patterns of Trust”
👩‍💻 Speaker: Maria “Majo” Castillo, Junior QA Engineer at Devexperts

About the Event

Porto Tech Connect brings together tech professionals, leaders, and curious minds for an evening of insights, meaningful conversations, and high-quality networking.

This May edition will be hosted at Devexperts Porto and will feature a thought-provoking talk on one of the most underestimated drivers of success in tech: trust.

🎤 The Talk – “Patterns of Trust”

Quality is built by people — not just processes.

In this session, Maria “Majo” Castillo will explore how trust becomes the invisible framework behind every successful project. Great QAs don’t just find bugs — they recognize the human patterns that shape quality:

• How we listen
• How we communicate
• How we question
• How we respond to uncertainty

When we nurture these patterns, testing becomes connection, feedback becomes growth, and collaboration evolves into shared leadership.

👩‍💻 About the Speaker

Maria Castillo (Majo) is a Junior QA Engineer at Devexperts.

With a background in mathematics, nearly 10 years of teaching experience, and expertise in customer experience, she brings a deeply human-centered perspective to quality assurance. Her unique mix of logic and empathy makes quality not only structured — but profoundly human.

🤝 Why Attend?

Porto Tech Connect is designed for meaningful networking.

✔ Meet tech professionals, founders, and team leaders
✔ Exchange ideas and practical insights
