Governing the Quantum Future: Launch of Quantum Technology Governance

Celebrate the launch of both Quantum Technology Governance volumes with a keynote, selected chapter highlights, discussion and reception.

Quantum technologies promise transformative advances in computing, communications and sensing, but they also raise difficult questions for law, regulation and public policy.

This event celebrates Quantum Technology Governance, a two-volume open-access project published by Springer and edited by Professor Mateo Aboy, Director of Research in Technology & Law at the University of Cambridge; Associate Professor Marcelo Corrales Compagnucci, Associate Director of the Center for Advanced Studies in Bioscience Innovation Law (CeBIL) at the Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen; and Professor Timo Minssen, Director of CeBIL at the Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen.

Volume I: Law and Regulation is already available open access. Subject to publication timing, the event is also expected to mark the release of Volume II: Frameworks, Standards and Ethics. Together, the volumes bring technical insight and legal analysis from multiple jurisdictions to the emerging challenges of quantum governance, making the project one of the first comprehensive explorations of how quantum innovation may affect both established areas of law and emerging forms of governance.

The programme will begin with a keynote address. This will be followed by short presentations from the first authors of selected chapters, highlighting perspectives on intellectual property, cybersecurity, export controls, public international law, international standards, ethics and the broader governance implications of quantum innovation.

The event will conclude with a reception and an opportunity to continue the conversation with the editors, authors and other participants.

In-person places are limited, and advance registration is required. Participants who are able to attend in person are warmly encouraged to do so and stay for the reception and informal conversations following the presentations.
