How to prepare your Behaviour Interview: for AWS and Big Techs
About this event
You’ve worked on the projects. Now learn how to explain what you contributed — and why it matters.
Preparing for internships, placements or graduate applications? Curious about AWS and what to expect from the recruitment process?
Join us for an interactive Career Boost Workshop — open to everyone, regardless of academic background or experience level. This session combines career insights with practical exercises to help you talk about your projects and experience more clearly and confidently.
What to expect
- Meet an Amazon employee and learn about AWS: Hear an introduction to Amazon Web Services and an overview of its recruitment and interview process, with an opportunity to ask questions about preparing for applications.
- Turn your projects into stronger interview answers: Using AWS’s Storytelling for Career Readiness materials, we’ll explore how to structure answers with STAR — Situation, Task, Action, Result. Practise explaining your individual contribution, the decisions you made and what you learned.
- Practise in small-group mock interviews: Take turns as the candidate, interviewer and observer, with support and feedback from Imperial staff and senior students. The focus will be on behavioural questions, teamwork, problem-solving and communicating your project experience — not testing your AWS knowledge.
Who will be supporting the session?
Alongside our Amazon guest, we’ll be joined by Jamie Wright, a Careers Consultant at Imperial Careers Service.
You don’t need a polished answer or a clear career plan to join. This is a supportive space to try things out, ask questions and improve through feedback.
What to bring
Bring one real project, teamwork or work experience you’d like to practise talking about, plus a laptop or notebook for your notes. A role description you’re interested in is helpful, but not required.
No previous AWS or cloud experience is needed.
