[📍 Onsite] UX meets Python: Error Handling

Something went wrong. This time, on purpose.

For our November meetup, UX Graz teams up with Python Graz for an evening about errors from both sides of the screen. Developers decide which errors exist in the code. Designers decide what people actually see.

Thomas Aglassinger (Python Graz) and Jakob Schnurrer (UX Graz) open with a joint talk: "A holistic perspective on Error Handling". We start with real errors we found in the wild (a few good ones, most of them... not). Next comes what an error actually is and how errors get modelled in code. Then we switch to the design side: can the user fix it alone, do they need help, or can nobody fix it right now? And how do you design, place, time, and write a message so it actually helps?

After the talk, it’s your turn. In mixed teams of developers and designers (raffled, so no hiding with your colleagues), you’ll map the errors of a scenario, write the messages, and maybe sketch a screen or two. Then every team presents, and we find out whose error messages hold up.
