An executive apéro in Basel for senior leaders from pharma, biotech and medtech. The conversation is private and off the record. It's about how AI investment decisions are actually made at the executive level.

The question on the table If you had to justify a major AI investment today, how would you frame the decision?
We'll talk about how leaders weigh strategic priorities and risk, from sustaining current performance to accelerating future launches. We'll also cover whether to build, buy or partner, and a newer option: investing directly in AI startups. What does that look like in a regulated industry? Where are the real tradeoffs, and which models work for R&D, Commercial Ops or Tech Ops?
Who is at the table CEOs and C-level executives (CTO, CIO, CDO), VPs and board members from life sciences companies across Switzerland. We keep it to 15 participants max, so you get to know everyone at the table.

Am Donnerstag, 29.10.26 ab 17:30 Uhr treffen wir uns wieder im Bistro bei iRIX im Gundeldinger Feld.
Dieses Mal geht es um:
Reverse Engineer Everything
Software analysieren, verstehen und nachbauen, ohne den Quellcode zu kennen: Das gibt es seit Jahrzehnten. Mit AI wird es deutlich schneller und für viele zugänglich. Was früher Wochen gedauert hat, geht heute oft in Stunden.
In einem kurzen Input schauen wir uns an, wie Reverse Engineering funktioniert, was gerade in der Praxis passiert und wie man mit AI ein Feature nachbauen kann. Danach diskutieren wir gemeinsam die Fragen, die dahinterstehen:
⚖️ Wo hört Analyse auf und wo beginnt Nachahmung?
🤔 Wie ist es ethisch zu bewerten?
🏗️ Was macht das mit der Softwareentwicklung der Zukunft?
Ziel: ein gemeinsames Bild davon, was heute möglich ist, und eine offene Diskussion darüber, wie und was das die Zukunft beeinflussen wird.
Wie immer gilt: Austausch, eigene Themen, Fragen und spontane Diskussionen sind herzlich willkommen. Zuhören natürlich genauso. Für Einsteigerinnen und Profis gleichermassen, es braucht kein Vorwissen.

AI Stammtisch Basel: Reverse Engineer Everything

On Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 5:30 PM, we're meeting again at the iRIX bistro in Gundeldinger Feld.

This time, our topic is: Reverse Engineer Everything
Analysing, understanding and recreating software without access to its source code has been around for decades. With AI, the process is becoming significantly faster and more accessible. What used to take weeks can now often be done in hours.

In a short introduction, we'll explore how reverse engineering works, what's currently happening in practice and how AI can be used to recreate a feature.
Afterwards, we'll discuss some of the bigger questions together:
⚖️ Where does analysis end and imitation begin?
🤔 What are the ethical implications?
🏗️ How will this shape the future of software development?

Our goal: To develop a shared understanding of what's possible today and have an open discussion about how these developments might influence the future.

As always, everyone is welcome to share their own topics, ask questions and join spontaneous discussions. Just listening is perfectly fine, too!
Whether you're a beginner or an expert, no prior knowledge is required. Drinks and snacks will be provided. 🍺

  How to Make Your Models More Efficient?
  As AI becomes increasingly widespread, the demand for computational resources and energy continues to rise, both during training and inference. Whether you're working with large or small models, generative AI or traditional machine learning, there are ways to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and minimise environmental impact.
  Merve holds a PhD in Computer Science and has spent the past decade working on making machine learning more efficient. In this talk, she will share practical approaches, real world examples, and the tradeoffs involved in improving model efficiency.
• Boas Loeb, CPO & Co-Founder @ AIcoach LTD:
  Less is more: Why our AI coach learned to forget
  For an AI coach, remembering what users said before is crucial - but remembering everything turns out to be the wrong goal. Boas Loeb, co-founder and chief product officer of AIcoach.chat, an AI coaching platform used by organisations such as NHS Elect, shares how his team built an elaborate memory system and then had to simplify it. Today their coach’s memory borrows from how human memory works and is shaped by what coaching conversations actually needs: it keeps mainly what is worth exploring in a future session, links what keeps coming up again and again, and regularly forgets and reorganises the rest. Attendees will learn why more memory often makes AI less helpful, how to derive memory decisions from their own use case, and practical lessons for anyone building or using AI that “knows” its users.
