Die CSS hat 2024 einen weiteren grossen Schritt auf ihrer Reise zur Business Agilität unternommen: Mit der Einführung von SAFe, sechs Agile Release Trains, einem agilen Portfolio sowie der Anpassung von Organisation, Budget und Strategie. Obwohl Scrum bereits seit 2014 in der Softwareentwicklung verankert ist, bedeutete dieser Wandel einen tiefgreifenden organisatorischen und kulturellen Schritt.
In dieser Session berichtet ein Mitglied des Transformationsteams, was in den letzten zwei Jahren im agilen Umfeld der CSS mit rund 500 Mitarbeitenden geschehen ist. Themen wie agile Führung, Zusammenspiel zwischen Team, ART und Portfolio, Kommunikation, Kulturwandel und Mindset-Change stehen dabei im Mittelpunkt. UX Meetup Basel and Visual Fields Basel collaborate for a joint event. Two communities, one topic that everyone knows but hardly anyone talks about out loud. Impostor syndrome.

Being a Basel, Switzerland local, he works in and around the city in creative settings with experience in Interaction Design and Marketing.

From mutable to immutable OS, our Kubernetes Cluster API journey

Le patching des machines c'est souvent une tâche redondante, onéreuse et parfois risquée mais essentielle pour garantir la sécurité d'un environnement.

Cette complexité s’accroît d'autant plus avec Kubernetes, où la disponibilité des composants et des applications peut s'avérer critique.

Chez Piguet Galland & Cie, nous avons fait le choix d'utiliser Cluster API pour créer et mettre à jour nos clusters. Tout cela en ajoutant une couche de sécurité avec l'OS immuable Talos Linux et la couche réseau Cilium.

Le problème avec les secrets, c’est qu’ils finissent toujours par trop parler

Dans la plupart des plateformes modernes, les secrets sont partout : variables d’environnement, pipelines CI/CD, "secrets" Kubernetes... et vivent souvent bien plus longtemps que les applications qu’ils protègent, donnant souvent plus de droits que nécessaire, ayant un scope trop large.

Et lorsqu’ils “parlent” à la mauvaise personne, ce n’est jamais au bon moment.

Fuites, mouvements latéraux, accès persistants... une fois exposés, ces secrets deviennent des portes d’entrée difficiles à refermer. Et malgré les bonnes pratiques, la rotation reste complexe, la propagation incontrôlée, et la gouvernance fragile.

Mais si le problème n’était pas seulement leur protection... mais leur nature même ?

À travers cette présentation, nous explorerons une approche différente : les secrets dynamiques.

Des credentials générés à la demande, avec une durée de vie limitée à quelques minutes, automatiquement révoqués et inutilisables hors de leur contexte.

Nous verrons concrètement comment ce modèle transforme la gestion des accès dans des environnements Cloud Native.

17:05 - Orchestrating enterprise infrastructure from a single Cloud Native Control Plane (Angelo Gargiulo, Cyrill Näf, Bank Julius Bär)
Join us as we share Bank Julius Bär's transformative automation journey that began in 2018, when manually deploying a single application environment took weeks. We'll trace our evolution from basic server deployment automation to our current distributed cloud-native control plane known as Fleet Commander.
Our automation journey began by introducing VMware vRealize Automation for server deployments, expanding to databases, container platforms, and other services published on our "IT Shop" portal. As demand increased, our centralized team became a bottleneck, and our hybrid cloud strategy required a new approach.
We implemented a distributed responsibility model where technical teams manage their own automation within architectural guardrails. However, limitations in state management and infrastructure-as-code capabilities led us to develop Fleet Commander—a cloud-native control plane for both on-premise and public cloud environments.
This session explores how we're using Kubernetes and Crossplane to build a scalable automation framework with GitOps-first infrastructure provisioning. We'll cover the architecture patterns that enable unified automation interfaces through a Kubernetes-like API while supporting diverse infrastructure requirements and day 1/day 2 operations.

It's time for a new NixOS release, 26.05 Yarara! 🎉

For a month before release, NixOS is in ZERO Hydra Failures stage. During this time, the community tries to fix all of the Hydra build failures in Nixpkgs. You can read more about the process here. The 26.05 release schedule will become available soon.

Who is this event for?
Anyone who's interested in Nix! Among the attendees you'll find core Nix contributors, full-on Nix beginners, and everything in between. This event is as much about the upcoming release as it is about engaging with the local Nix and functional programming community. It's a great opportunity to get your feet wet while helping us stabilise the next release.

Hackathon
The main objective of the hackathon is to approach Zero Hydra Failures for the upcoming NixOS release by fixing bugs and build errors in Nixpkgs and NixOS.

A hackathon is also a great opportunity to address issues that are otherwise hard to fix or get going with. Therefore everyone can pitch projects they want to work on at the venue, and ask for assistance or schedule time to discuss their ideas or code.
