Tech Events in Zurich
Zurich sustains one of the most research-dense tech-event calendars in Europe, anchored by ETH Zurich and the broader Swiss research ecosystem. ML-research, systems, and programming-languages communities are particularly strong. This is one of the places in Europe where compiler, distributed-systems, and cryptography research still has a community event presence in the form of guild nights, reading groups, and visiting-speaker series.
Beyond the research corner, there's a solid calendar around data engineering, DevOps, and finance-and-insurance tech reflecting the city's industries. Google's Zurich office hosts a steady drumbeat of developer events, as do the local chapters of most major open-source communities.

Product Night: Sustainable Discovery & Navigating Organizational Readiness đ
Zurich, đšđ Switzerland
We all know that product work isnât just about developing features.
Itâs about making product work sustainable - from keeping discovery alive over time to getting products launched without wasting too much energy on alignment, stakeholder management, and organisational friction.
Thatâs often where product work starts to slip: discovery isnât maintained, launches stall, and too much effort goes into managing the system instead of building the product.
Join the Product Academy community at Westpark Zurich for an evening of raw insights, real-world failures, and proven frameworks from two industry experts.
Who is this for?
- The Strategist: PMs who want to use Opportunity Solution Trees (OST) to build the right thing faster.
- The Change-Maker: PMs in large corporates are tired of "stalled" launches and stakeholder misalignment.
- The Lifelong Learner: Anyone looking to network with the Zurich product community.
Limited spots available.
The Lineup:
Vivienne Clement (Product Owner @ Swiss Post)
- Talk: What happens when the Product is ready, but the Organisation isn't?
- The Vibe: A deep dive into the "political" side of PMing. Learn how to manage stakeholder buy-in and overcome hidden resistance when launching AI and B2B products in large corporations.
John Huertas (Product Manager @ Swiss Re)
- Talk: Making Continuous Discovery & Opportunity Solution Trees Sustainable.
- The Vibe: Move beyond theory. John shares lessons from a multi-year journey of experimentation to show how teams can bring more discipline to discovery, improve prioritisation, and make product decisions with greater confidence.

- 5:40pm~6:40pm: Tech talk: GitHub Copilot in Practice
- 6:40pm~7:30pm: Open discussion and closing
Tech talk: Mastering GitHub Copilot CLI
Speaker: Aymen Furter - Cloud & AI Solution Engineer, Microsoft
Abstract: Learn to harness the power of agentic development by transitioning to autonomous, multi-step terminal workflows. This session focuses on mastering plan-based execution, repository-aware context, and integrating external data via the Model Context Protocol.
Tech talk: GitStop Using GitHub Copilot Like a Toy
Speaker: Emanuele Bartolesi - GitHub Tech Lead, Xebia
Abstract: Hub Copilot is easy to love in a demo. Real projects are different. Production codebases come with legacy code, missing context, inconsistent patterns, unclear requirements, and delivery pressure. That is where GitHub Copilot either becomes a real advantage or just an expensive toy. This talk focuses on practical ways to use Copilot in real development workflows, going beyond autocomplete. Agent mode, skills, Copilot CLI, and better prompting can make a real difference when working in messy repositories and under real deadlines. Designed for developers and tech leads who want more than flashy demos, this session shares concrete tactics to get better output, reduce noise, and make Copilot genuinely useful in day-to-day software delivery.

Digital Product Club: Pitch Perfect - What makes a great pitch
Zurich, đšđ Switzerland
Pitch it. Mean it. A meetup for people who design, sell and promote digital products.
Weâve all been there: You have an idea that really clicksâbut how do you convey it in 60 seconds so that the person youâre talking to immediately understands what itâs all about? Thatâs exactly what this evening is all about.
Weâll start with a concise introduction to the basics of pitchingâwhat makes a good pitch, which structures work, and what really matters. Then there will be a keynote talk to get the evening off to a lively start.
In the workshop, weâll prepare pitches together. Then itâs time to get serious: Everyone will have the chance to try out their own pitch under real-world conditions.
Bring your idea. Or just your curiosity. Either one is enough.

Kuberik: Safe, Hands-Off Deployments for Kubernetes (Luka Rumora)
Most teams deploying to Kubernetes end up in one of two places: either GitOps that stops at applying manifests, or brittle CI pipelines full of bash and glue. Both fall short of true end-to-end delivery.
The ideal is well knownâcanaries, health checks, smoke tests, promotions, rollbackâbut Kubernetes lacks a native, reusable way to compose these without reinventing everything.
Existing tools solve pieces (Argo Rollouts, Flagger, Kargo), but not the whole pipeline.
Kuberik fills that gap: it orchestrates the full journey from release to productionâdetecting, gating, rolling out, verifying, and promotingâusing opinionated, pluggable Kubernetes resources that integrate with existing GitOps setups.
Luka is a Lead SRE with 10 years of experience building platform infrastructure and internal developer tooling, always with the same focus: systems that are robust, easy to maintain, and a pleasure to use. Over the years, he has watched the delivery tooling landscape change, from Jenkins to GitLab CI to Drone to GitHub Actions, yet the fundamental approach to CD has stayed the same: step-based pipelines with the same challenges they had a decade ago. He built Kuberik because he believes we can do better.
The event will be recorded and made available on VSHN's YouTube channel: https://vshn.tv. Subscribe to stay notified of updates.
We expect all participants to abide by VSHN's Conference Code of Conduct: https://www.vshn.ch/en/code-of-conduct/

Micro Habits & Sovereignty in Practice
Zurich, đšđ Switzerland
Two very different, complementary topics for our June evening. One on the small, everyday habits that make teams actually collaborate. The other on how a platform and a cultural movement transformed IT in the public sector.
Here's what's planned for the evening:
17:30 - 18:00 - Arrival and first drinks
18:00 - 18:45 - Micro Habits for better Teamwork by Dr. Denniz Dönmez
18:45 - 19:30 - From DevOps to Digital Sovereignty: How a Movement Became a Platform by Syrian Hadad
19:30 - 20:30 - Networking, Open Space & More drinks*
Micro Habits for better Teamwork
Great teamwork is like solving a puzzle, and not like playing poker, it's not about playing against each other, but rather achieving real collaboration. Micro Habits are psychological hacks that create big results in teams. Micro Habits for Better Teamwork span seven behavioral domains, such as taking responsibility, creating psychological safety, and testing our assumptions. Each provides concrete, small, actionable behaviors that lead to major improvements in collaboration.
This talk presents practical, everyday tools based on real-world experience that can be applied immediately to make teamwork easier and more effective, without lengthy coaching programs or complex team-development processes. With Micro Habits, teams unlock their full potential step by step.
Dr. Denniz Dönmez
Scientific agilist and co-creator of Micro Habits for better Teamwork. 15 years experience leading teams and consulting market leaders with a background and PhD in agile methods.
From DevOps to Digital Sovereignty: How a Movement Became a Platform
IT in the public sector is anything but simple: long-established landscapes, strict regulatory requirements, complex processes, and often more than 500 business applications that must be operated reliably.
For a long time, this meant ordering individual servers, databases, DNS entries, firewall rules, and storage, then assembling everything manually. Every application was unique. Pets instead of cattle.
This talk tells the story of how the DevOps idea took hold in exactly this environment â first as a cultural movement, and later as a concrete operating and architectural model. Step by step, individual infrastructure evolved into a platform, manual work into automation, and isolated solutions into standardization.
The result: the Aargau Cloud Platform and a dedicated platform engineering team. In an environment shaped by legacy systems, federal structures, and long lifecycle expectations, platform thinking becomes the foundation for digital sovereignty: maintaining control, reducing dependencies, and still staying innovative â without simply handing everything over to others.
Syrian Hadad
Syrian Hadad is a CTO and long-standing technology and platform leader in the public sector. Among other achievements, he built the Aargau Cloud Platform and helped establish DevOps, cloud, and architecture topics strategically within the organization. Together with the IT organization of the Canton of Aargau, he won the 2023 Digital Economy Award (Digital Excellence) for the consistent transformation toward platforms, cloud-native technologies, and modern governance.

AI and the Teams That Make It Work
Zurich, đšđ Switzerland
Two complementary takes on what actually decides whether AI delivers value in an organization. One on why role-based structures are the real enabler, the other on what happens to teams when AI starts resolving the tickets.
Here's what's planned for the evening:
17:30 - 18:00 - Arrival and first drinks
18:00 - 18:45 - AI Value Creation Starts Beyond Technology by Ralf GĂŒnthner
18:45 - 19:30 - When the Bot Takes the Ticket: Keeping Teams Effective as AI Rewrites the Rules by Dagmar Muth
19:30 - 20:30 - Networking, Open Space & More drinks*
AI Value Creation Starts Beyond Technology
Many companies are currently investing heavily in AI agents, copilots, and automation, yet the expected gains in productivity and innovation often fail to materialize. The reason is rarely technological, but structural: classic hierarchical organizational models are not designed to collaborate effectively with learning, adaptive systems.
This keynote explains why role-based work is the decisive enabler for successful AI adoption. In role-based organizations, responsibilities are clearly defined, decision rights are decentralized, and collaboration is dynamically organized, exactly the conditions under which AI agents can deliver maximum value.
Drawing on current research (including McKinsey, MIT CISR, and Harvard Business School) and practical examples from industry, mechanical engineering, and chemicals, the keynote shows how companies can combine AI agents with role-based structures to:
- drastically shorten implementation timelines
- increase acceptance and trust in AI
- enable continuous optimization instead of one-off pilot projects
- significantly improve the ROI of AI investments
The core message: AI does not transform organizations, organizations determine whether AI creates impact. Those who invest today in role-based ways of working, shared leadership, and decentralized decision logic build the operational foundation to not only introduce AI, but scale it strategically.
Ralf GĂŒnthner
Ralf GĂŒnthner is a transformation expert, entrepreneur, and lecturer with over 25 years of experience in digital transformation, AI, IoT, and organizational development. In his keynotes, he shows why AI value creation does not emerge from algorithms, platforms, or tools, but from leadership, culture, decision-making logic, and effective collaboration.
He combines deep technology expertise with systems thinking, neuroscience, and hands-on transformation work. As Co-CEO of Team-Factory GmbH, he supports companies in anchoring AI strategically, creating orientation, and delivering sustainable impact, beyond hype and technology fixation.
When the Bot Takes the Ticket: Keeping Teams Effective as AI Rewrites the Rules
AI agents are starting to resolve incidents, write code, and close tickets. That's great for throughput, but what happens to the humans in the team? Motivation, ownership, skill development, and psychological safety don't disappear as team development topics just because productivity metrics go up.
In this talk, Dagmar Muth draws on her work with engineering and product teams navigating AI-driven transformation. She shares what it takes to make AI integration work for the whole team: how to preserve ownership and purpose, keep accountability clear, and build the patterns that distinguish teams that thrive from those that merely adapt.
You'll leave with a clear mental model for thinking about team health in AI-augmented setups and concrete questions to bring back to your own team or organization.
Dagmar Muth
Dagmar Muth is a systemic organizational developer and agile coach with 20 years of experience guiding teams and companies through transformation. As a co-worker of pragmatic solutions ag in ZĂŒrich, she supports organizations in finding the right setup, processes, and culture to sustain performance from vision to go-live, increasingly in contexts shaped by AI. She works with cross-functional tech and product teams, coaches leaders, and lectures on agile project management at SIB. Her particular focus right now: how organizations integrate AI without losing what makes their teams actually work.

Debugging the Human Layer & Guerilla InnerSource in the AI Hype
Zurich, đšđ Switzerland
Two complementary perspectives on engineering culture and the way we work together. Two experienced speakers and plenty of networking opportunity. We are very much looking forward to the next DevOps Meetup Zurich.
Here's what's planned for the evening:
17:30 - 18:00 - Arrival and first drinks
18:00 - 18:45 - Debugging the Human Layer: Applying Systems Thinking to Team Dynamics by Ashwin Krishnan
18:45 - 19:30 - Guerilla InnerSource in Enterprises, During the AI Hype by Oleg Nenashev
19:30 - 20:30 - Networking, Open Space & More drinks*
Debugging the Human Layer: Applying Systems Thinking to Team Dynamics
In DevOps, we obsess over the "Three Ways": Flow, Feedback, and Continuous Learning. We build robust CI/CD pipelines and automated testing to eliminate technical friction, yet we often ignore the most volatile component in our architecture: the humans.
This session explores how personality and team dynamics assessments function as "telemetry" for your human systems. By understanding the underlying "code" of our team membersâtheir communication protocols, stress-response thresholds, and cognitive biasesâwe can move from accidental collaboration to intentional high-performance.
I will present a few personality assessments I have used personally, as well as with my teams (no brand endorsements), that the audience can consider to use to get a better understanding of themselves.

He holds an embaX from ETH ZĂŒrich & HSG St. Gallen and a B.E. in Computer Engineering.
Guerilla InnerSource in Enterprises, During the AI Hype
Many developers want to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and developer productivity, especially when those developers are their own colleagues. But do their companies really care? Despite the endless DevOps and developer productivity slidedecks, not everyone has a strategy beyond "let's form another task force" or "let's have another weekly meeting" from management. Can a single engineer actually introduce InnerSource and change how work gets done in a big enterprise? Maybe! Can they burn out in the process? Well, let's talk.
We'll discuss introducing an open collaboration culture, also known as InnerSource, inside rigid corporate structures that are not willing to change. The ongoing AI hype can be a great leverage, an excuse to form internal guilds, secure funding, and get executive attention for collaboration and productivity initiatives. How to get started without a budget or official blessing from higher ups? How to find allies and not burn too many bridges? And how to show impact when everyone is obsessed with KPIs?

Embedding Quality Process in Agile Product Delivery
Quality is said to be built in when using agile delivery approaches, thanks to early and ongoing testing without the formal techniques used in traditional approaches. In interlinked projects, however, applying dedicated quality management processes and techniques helps teams consistently deliver fit-for-purpose agile products. Implementing these techniques has defined a new direction in multiple agile projects. In this session, you will learn how to define quality process techniques within an agile framework, and how to apply them across multiple projects, including scrum-of-scrum setups.
