Cloud Native Bern Meetup, Mai 2026
17:05 - Orchestrating enterprise infrastructure from a single Cloud Native Control Plane (Angelo Gargiulo, Cyrill Näf, Bank Julius Bär)
Join us as we share Bank Julius Bär's transformative automation journey that began in 2018, when manually deploying a single application environment took weeks. We'll trace our evolution from basic server deployment automation to our current distributed cloud-native control plane known as Fleet Commander.
Our automation journey began by introducing VMware vRealize Automation for server deployments, expanding to databases, container platforms, and other services published on our "IT Shop" portal. As demand increased, our centralized team became a bottleneck, and our hybrid cloud strategy required a new approach.
We implemented a distributed responsibility model where technical teams manage their own automation within architectural guardrails. However, limitations in state management and infrastructure-as-code capabilities led us to develop Fleet Commanderâa cloud-native control plane for both on-premise and public cloud environments.
This session explores how we're using Kubernetes and Crossplane to build a scalable automation framework with GitOps-first infrastructure provisioning. We'll cover the architecture patterns that enable unified automation interfaces through a Kubernetes-like API while supporting diverse infrastructure requirements and day 1/day 2 operations.
Audience Takeaways:
⢠Architecture patterns for building distributed automation systems on Kubernetes
⢠Approaches to scaling automation capabilities using Crossplane
⢠Strategies for implementing GitOps workflows in automation platforms
⢠Methods for creating unified automation interfaces across different infrastructure domains
⢠Real-world insights from our evolution to a distributed automation model
⢠Technical implementation of a cloud-native control plane for hybrid environments
17:45 â Pause
17:55 - Adnovum Managed Services on Azure - Our Road to Implementation (Daniel Hogg, Vitor Bernardo, Adnovum)
This session walks through Adnovum's path towards implementing managed services on Azure. We review the strategic goals that shaped our approach, the technical and organizational challenges we encountered along the way, and the key insights we gained through the process.
As a closing perspective, we explore how this initiative connects to the broader topic of digital sovereigntyâand what that means in the Swiss context.
18:35 - ApĂŠro
Wir freuen uns riesig, euch wieder bei uns zu begrĂźssen und gemeinsam in den Feierabend zu starten. Bis bald!

Clarity for Product Leaders with Arne Kittler (Co-Founder of Product@Heart)
Bern, đ¨đ Switzerland
Are you experiencing friction with stakeholders? Wishing for more clarity about your role or goals? Whether you are leading a team of PMs or working as an individual contributor, don't miss this chance to make a difference in your organization!
We are exited to welcome Arne Kittler in Bern for his insightful talk on
Clarity for Product Leaders
As PMs, we can only succeed in collaboration with others. And successful collaboration is only possible when there's enough clarity about each other's roles, our direction and how to shape our collaboration.
This is why clarity is the number one superpower that distinguishes strong product people from the rest. And to truly benefit from the current promises of AI, clarity is more important than ever.
In this talk, Arne introduces a mental model to look at different layers of clarity that we need in product.
He will show you how to identify a lack of clarity in each of these layers and give you actionable tips for increasing clarity for yourself and the people around you, whether you are an Individual Contributor or a Product Leader.
The bottom-line of this talk is that everyone of us can help to bring more clarity to our product work - and this talk will show you how.
A big thank you to our sponsors 89grad and Securiton.
Successful innovations call for courage and the willingness to tread new paths
With the knowledge gained from decades of research and development (F&E) and the experience gained from the operation of products and systems installed around the world, Securiton ensures the security of tomorrow. We develop our core products in Switzerland with our nearshoring and farshoring hubs in Portugal and India and in close cooperation with the other F&E competence centres of the Swiss Securitas Group in Germany and Austria. We also rely on close cooperation with national and international innovation partners. When it comes to product provision, we work according to agile methods and with state-of-the-art technologies, architectures and tools. In doing so, we consistently focus on market requirements and customer needs.
Azure Bootcamp Switzerland 2026
Bern, đ¨đ Switzerland
Azure Bootcamp Switzerland is an all-day conference about the Microsoft Azure Cloud Computing platform and will take place on May 21st, 2026 at Welle 7 in Bern.
Further information about the Azure Bootcamp Switzerland, as well as registration and tickets will be found at https://azurebootcamp.ch
The Azure Bootcamp Switzerland is a community event and open to everyone. We ask you to pay a small fee for the ticket for the following reasons. First, free tickets always result in a high no-show rate when people register for the event and don't show up. This makes planning really difficult for us. We want to avoid that the venue is overbooked and people are sent home or the opposite happens and the venue is underbooked and no tickets can be given to people who would like to attend the event.
Another big issue is the catering. We have to place firm orders for catering during lunchtime and during all breaks. If the no-show rate is high, all the food would have to be thrown away. If you can't afford the ticket for personal reasons and still want to participate, contact us and we will find a way. Please remember that the conference is still a non-profit community conference. A positive financial balance will be invested in future events and donated to a charity partner organization.
It would be our pleasure to welcome you at the Azure Bootcamp in Bern!
