Brainberg

Software Engineering Events in Budapest

This is the widest category on Brainberg, because software engineering itself spans a huge range of events: language user groups (Python, Rust, Go, TypeScript, Kotlin, Elixir, Ruby, Zig), framework communities (React, Svelte, Next.js, Vue, Laravel, Django, NixOS), backend architecture tracks, testing and QA tracks (ISTQB certification courses, mutation testing, test-automation workshops), refactoring and DDD circles, hackathons, and the long tail of "thoughtful engineering" meetups that don't fit neatly under any specific stack.

This page narrows the Budapest calendar to Software Engineering events. It's a subset of Hungary's wider tech-event schedule, useful when you want something specific to go to in the city this month.

EAA: hatĂĄs vagy lĂĄtszat?

Budapest, 🇭đŸ‡ș Hungary

The language of this workshop is Hungarian.
A program a Budapest Accessibility Meetup, a UX Budapest és az Appy közös szervezésƱ eseménye.

Tavaly nyĂĄr Ăłta az European Accessibility Act (EAA) Ășj szintre emelte az akadĂĄlymentessĂ©g kĂ©rdĂ©sĂ©t az EurĂłpai UniĂłban. A szabĂĄlyozĂĄs szĂĄmos digitĂĄlis termĂ©ket Ă©s szolgĂĄltatĂĄst Ă©rint, többek között weboldalakat, e-kereskedelmi platformokat, banki Ă©s közlekedĂ©si szolgĂĄltatĂĄsokat, elsƑsorban a közepes Ă©s nagyobb piaci szereplƑk körĂ©ben.

  • Klein PĂ©ter - design strategist & leadership advisor (Blue)
  • SzĂĄntai KĂĄroly - tanĂșsĂtott web akadĂĄlymentessĂ©gi szakĂ©rtƑ, szakoktatĂł

ElƑadás
ElƑadó: Pentz Zsolt
Zsolt frontend fejlesztƑ, több mint 10 Ă©v tapasztalattal a webes felhasznĂĄlĂłi felĂŒletek fejlesztĂ©sĂ©ben. Elkötelezett hĂve a hozzĂĄfĂ©rhetƑ, jĂłl mƱködƑ, Ă©rthetƑ Ă©s felhasznĂĄlĂłközpontĂș megoldĂĄsoknak. Jelenleg gazdĂĄlkodĂĄsi Ă©s menedzsment alapkĂ©pzĂ©sen vĂ©gzƑs hallgatĂł, szakdolgozatĂĄban az EAA kapcsĂĄn vizsgĂĄlja a magyar weboldalak hozzĂĄfĂ©rhetƑsĂ©gĂ©nek alakulĂĄsĂĄt a törvĂ©ny hatĂĄlybalĂ©pĂ©sĂ©t követƑ idƑszakban.

A helyszín akadålymentessége:
A helyszĂn akadĂĄlymentes.

The lineup for this evening is going to be the following:

Speaker 1: Ákos Csilling, Principal SW engineer, Arm

Arm has recently announced the Arm AGI CPU, its first production silicon. This transition from IP provider to chip manufacturer has raised some questions in the SW test teams as well.
How do I test the HW that doesn’t exist yet?
How to test before we get to the Linux prompt?
Are 14 test cases enough for my system?
Can a project be confidential and open source at the same time?
Do we need to retest all components?
How to stabilize CI when we need the latest from everything? In this talk, we explore these challenges through a real-world case study and use them to uncover practical, transferable testing principles for complex systems built under uncertainty.

Speaker 2: MĂĄrton Siska, Cooperative Member, Hungarian Testing Board

In the world of industrial automation, minor software or firmware glitches can halt entire production lines. Ensuring hardware, firmware, and software work in harmony is a high-stakes challenge.
In this talk, we’ll dive into:

  • The Strategy: Building comprehensive test environments that integrate hardware, firmware and software
  • The Workflow: From the automatic creation of test environments to sustainable test procedures
  • The Results: Executing tests and generating automated reports for rapid decision-making

If you deal with large dependencies, tight deadlines, or the risk of small mistakes causing huge delays, this session will provide insights to keep your projects on track.

We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of technical deep dives and great company!

đŸ”· Going Multiplatform with Your Android App - MĂĄrton Braun, JetBrains
Existing Android apps are in a great position to expand into Kotlin Multiplatform: you might already be using patterns, libraries, and APIs that work on more platforms than just Android. With Compose Multiplatform, you can build an app with a fully shared Kotlin codebase, targeting iOS, desktop, and even the web!

In this talk, we’ll look at how you can migrate an existing Android app to multiplatform. As this can be a significant engineering effort for an existing, well-established app, we’ll also discuss how to plan and organize the required changes, and how to adopt KMP incrementally across your codebase without disrupting day-to-day development.

đŸ”· When MediaProjection Isn't Enough - Building a Custom In-App Session Recorder - IstvĂĄn Juhos, Spoke
Debugging user issues gets so much easier when you can see exactly what they experienced. While off-the-shelf solutions exist to integrate screen recording into our apps, they didn't give us the quality, flexibility, or control we needed. So, our team built our own native, in-app session recording tool for Android.

In this talk, I'll share why we decided to go in-house, how we tackled the technical and UX hurdles along the way, and what we learned about recording high-quality video and audio data.

We'll dive into tricky bits like exploring - and discarding - the MediaProjection API, handling codecs and muxers across devices, designing recording controls that stay out of the user's way, playing back recordings, and managing background uploads without draining your users' battery or patience.
