Software Engineering Events in Glasgow

The goal of this event is to introduce people to our hack space located in central Glasgow inside The Gamer Club. There is a monthly fee to join (if you want to be able to make use of the space 24/7) (see membership) but this event is free and open to all to attend - there is even free teas and coffees!

We'd love to meet you, hear your ideas for future free public events you'd like to see us run, and help build the community.

• Soldering Iron (professional, adjustable temperature)

We're planning on running a new series of events (we're looking for volunteers - get in touch!), including:

• Intro to soldering
• Guitar pedal workshop
• Reading sensors with Ardunio/Raspberry Pi workshops
• Intro to sewing/crocheting
• Building custom keyboards

There will be short keynotes, speed interviews or open networking, and lots of energy! Hiring teams will discuss their companies, present job openings, and network with seasoned job seekers, providing you with the ideal opportunity to discover your next exceptional hire. Attendees will have the opportunity to rate presentations delivered by the hiring teams, and we promise there won't be any Simon Cowell-style judges to break anyone's spirit. Plus, we'll send you a list of job seekers in advance, so you can plan your strategy accordingly.

• 80+ candidates on the event list, a 55-65% attendance rate on average
• 3+ years of experience in a relevant field on average
• While this event is centered around women in tech, we extend a warm invitation to everyone to join us.

We understand that you may have attended events in the past that demanded extensive preparation but fell short on value. But, our event is unique - it only takes an hour to review the talent list, connect with candidates, and prepare a 5-minute impromptu keynote speech without any slides. Bring swag!

Are your events virtual?

Some of our events are in-person while others are held virtually via Hopin. Both of them have proven to offer an excellent experience for both job seekers and employers. For details please review the event location on your right.

Who should attend?
Tech Meetup is a generalist event for everyone in the Glasgow tech community. We welcome people with all levels of experience . Even if you are starting your journey into tech as a student or bootcamper or your thinking of starting your development career, you are more than welcome.

Why should I come?
As well as learning from your peers at our talks, you get to meet other developers and expand your network, and we also share what is going on in the wider Glasgow developer community. If you are still not sold, we have free drinks and pizza!

Yes. Our event is accessible with a lift on the bottom floor which will take you to the 1st floor where the event is held.

We require everyone to be kind, caring and considerate for other members who attend on the evening. The Tech MeetUp is a zone centred around making everyone feel comfortable, no matter their ability or level in industry. Please ensure when speakers are delivering presentations that verbal communication is kept to a minimum to allow the speaker your full attention. Any clear indications you are not following this code of conduct could result in being asked to leave the event. Please speak to an event organiser if you'd like to report anything.

Just an excuse for a wee Friday night catch up over a beer or two.

Note the new venue for this event. The venue is unlicensed, but you can bring your own beer/wine. There will also be free tea/coffee and soft drinks available.
