Open Coffee Riga is a friendly informal networking event for entrepreneurs, professionals, locals, guests, people in the startup community, and students in Riga.

Open Coffee Riga is an “un-meeting” without a speaker or agenda. We are focused on attendees gaining value from other attendees. The rules, tools, structure and moderation aim to facilitate this goal.

You may find a mentor, investor, client, co founder, employer, vendor, inspiration or a friend.

What is the BIG idea behind Open Coffee? We want to help people create valuable & meaningful connections. Everyone is welcome to our meetings, and we especially love first-timers. We want to make sure that if somebody coming from an unsupportive background/country has the courage to join, they will notice that we are glad they came because we welcome them. If you feel shy, you can also just listen but we encourage you to talk.
Doors Open at 18:40. We start at 19:00 sharp. Everybody gets up to 2 minutes to present:

1. Who they are and what they are doing
2. What they want
3. How they can help others

At 20:00 sharp we stop hosting and you can talk to people who are most interesting to you.

We are focused on business and social entrepreneurs, community builders, game-changers, earth-shakers and anyone else who is doing something interesting or wants to get involved in other people's projects. You can talk about any project/topic.

This event is based on the Open Coffee Krakow format, run by Richard Lucas and others in Krakow, Poland since 2012. The Open Coffee Riga is a revival of the Open Coffee Riga from 2011 (!) where it evolved into TechHub Riga & that evolved into StartupHouse Riga.

18.40 - 19:15 - Darja Orlova (Co-founder @ BBapps & Flutter GDE) - "Turn Your Flutter Side Project into a Real Product"

The story often starts the same way: you have a great app idea, you spend weekends and evenings building it, and at some point, the main feature works.

But then comes the hard part: turning it into a product people can actually find, understand, use, pay for, and give feedback on.

In this talk, we will look at what comes after the core Flutter functionality: onboarding, paywalls, App Store screenshots, user feedback, rating prompts, analytics, support flows, app updates, and other practical details that make an app ready to ship.

We will discuss how to approach these parts without getting overwhelmed, what tools and libraries can help, and what is worth thinking about before launch versus after real users arrive.

By the end of this talk, you will leave with plenty of inspiration, but more importantly, with a practical plan for turning that motivation into action.

Let’s build some cool apps… and actually ship them!

19.30 - 20.00 - Igors Kersovs (Lead Mobile App Developer at Bilder) - "Hacking My Smart Glasses with Flutter"

I planned my own personal assistant long before I owned smart glasses: something that runs on my hardware, works for me, and answers to nobody else. The glasses came later: a display and a microphone right at my temple, no camera, discreet enough to wear every day, and hackable enough to become truly mine. The Even Realities G2 ticked every box.

There was a catch. The official app streams your voice to the cloud just to turn it into text on your own lenses. The protocol is undocumented, and one wrong Bluetooth write bricks the glasses for good. I replaced the app anyway.

I will show the fun parts: sniffing the Bluetooth traffic, rebuilding the protocol in Dart, putting the first pixels on the glass, and running Whisper speech-to-text on the phone. It ends in a live demo: real-time captions on real glasses, with no cloud anywhere in the chain.

That pipeline is the seed of the assistant I set out to build. Next come local models, a home server, and my own automations on top. The glasses stay the interface. The intelligence runs where I choose.

You don't need smart glasses to take something home: this is a practical field guide to making Flutter talk to undocumented hardware, and a case that a personal device should answer to its owner.
