Brainberg

Software Engineering Events in Zwolle

This is the widest category on Brainberg, because software engineering itself spans a huge range of events: language user groups (Python, Rust, Go, TypeScript, Kotlin, Elixir, Ruby, Zig), framework communities (React, Svelte, Next.js, Vue, Laravel, Django, NixOS), backend architecture tracks, testing and QA tracks (ISTQB certification courses, mutation testing, test-automation workshops), refactoring and DDD circles, hackathons, and the long tail of "thoughtful engineering" meetups that don't fit neatly under any specific stack.

This page narrows the Zwolle calendar to Software Engineering events. It's a subset of Netherlands's wider tech-event schedule, useful when you want something specific to go to in the city this month.

DevSessions Zwolle: from insight to code. In one evening.

Zwolle, 🇳🇱 Netherlands

DevSessions Zwolle: From insight to code. In one evening.
On 25 November, we’re hosting a new edition of DevSessions Zwolle at Arcady.
This time, the focus is on UX and the choices that shape better software. How do you move from a problem to a promising idea? How do you understand the full customer journey? And how do you make sure the software you build is usable and accessible?
You won’t follow one fixed track. During two breakout rounds, two sessions run in parallel. You choose which one fits your work and interests best.

The sessions

1. From problem to idea: Brainstorming & ideation | Roelof Otten
How do you quickly move from a question to ideas you can actually work with?
Roelof introduces techniques such as Crazy Eights and puts you to work straight away. You’ll experience how to explore ideas quickly and turn a broad challenge into a few promising directions.

2. The power of the customer journey | Stephan Westra
A good user experience starts with understanding what happens across the full journey.
Together, you’ll map out a customer journey or service blueprint, from first contact to after-sales service. Where are the pain points? Where are the opportunities? And which moments deserve attention first?
Stephan shows how a customer journey can help you make better product and design decisions.

3. UX Fundamentals: Designing for people | Max Kievits
UX isn’t only relevant for designers. Developers and consultants make decisions every day that directly affect how people experience software.
Max shares practical UX principles you can apply in your own work, including forms, psychology, dark patterns, feedback and usability.
No full UX course in 40 minutes, but plenty to make you look at your own software differently the next day.

4. Can you spot the accessibility issue? | Erik van Lohuizen & Niels van Dijk
How accessible is the software you build? Our WCAG and front-end experts Erik and Niels put it to the test.
Together, you’ll spot common WCAG issues in real front-end examples, from keyboard navigation and focus management to forms, contrast and semantic HTML.

No dry list of guidelines. Just accessibility where it matters: in the software you’re actually building.

Got an accessibility issue of your own? Bring it along and put it to the test.

You choose where to join
During each round, two sessions run at the same time. Pick the topic that gives you the most value.

Programme
17:30 – 17:50 | Doors open
17:50 – 18:30 | Dinner
18:30 – 18:40 | Welcome & introduction
18:40 – 19:20 | Breakout round 1

  • Roelof Otten: From problem to idea: Brainstorming & ideation
  • Stephan Westra: The power of the customer journey

19:20 – 19:35 | Break, switch rooms and time to talk to the speakers
19:35 – 20:15 | Breakout round 2

  • Max Kievits: UX Fundamentals: Designing for people
  • Erik van Lohuizen & Niels van Dijk: Can you spot the accessibility issue?

From 20:15 | Room for sessions to run over, followed by drinks
Dinner, drinks and bitterballen are taken care of.

Who is it for?
DevSessions is for developers, designers, architects, consultants and other tech professionals who want to look beyond their own discipline.
You don’t need to be a UX specialist. The evening is especially useful if you want to understand how ideation, customer journeys, UX and accessibility influence the software you design or build.
You’ll leave with techniques and ideas you can use in your own projects.

19:00 — From solo agents to AI teams
Jettro Coenradie · Principle Consultant | Search and AI expert · Yuma
A capable AI agent can do a lot, but some tasks benefit from a team. As in software engineering, dividing responsibilities is only the beginning: the interesting challenges lie in how the parts communicate, share information, and coordinate their work.
This talk explores how agents work together, introducing collaboration patterns before looking at the engineering behind an agent team. How do you define responsibilities? Which state belongs to each agent? And how do you involve people in the collaboration?
To make these concepts concrete, I’ll introduce akgents, our homegrown agent framework inspired by the Actor Model. Its agents maintain their own state and communicate through messages, providing a foundation for teams whose members can work independently while coordinating toward a shared goal. I’ll explain why we chose this approach and demonstrate it with a team of agents that arranges a meeting, finds a room, and organises lunch and drinks.
You’ll leave with a practical understanding of multi-agent collaboration, the architectural choices involved in building agent teams, and a clearer sense of when those teams are worth the additional complexity.
About Jettro
Jettro is a software architect, search-relevance geek, and AI enthusiast who wants to know what happens beyond the demo. After more than a decade helping customers build better search engines, his curiosity led him through machine learning and Natural Language Processing into the world of AI agents.
Today, he explores how agents can use knowledge, work together, and collaborate with people to get things done. He brings a software engineer’s curiosity—and healthy scepticism—to turning AI possibilities into useful systems.
Jettro loves sharing what he learns, from architectural choices to experiments that didn’t quite go to plan. He lives by Yuma’s mantra: the only thing that grows by sharing is knowledge.
20:00 — Code reviews and agentic workflows
Michal Wrzosek · Product Engineer
Talk description to follow.
About Michal
Michal Wrzosek is a Product Engineer with more than 10 years of experience turning ideas into products. He focuses on AI-native development, agentic workflows and the evolving role of engineering in an AI-driven world.
