Tech Events in Brussels
Brussels is unusually weighted toward tech-policy and open-source events because of the EU institutions concentrated in the city. FOSDEM each February is one of the largest open-source conferences in the world and draws tens of thousands. Around it, the calendar is full of AI-governance, data-protection, cybersecurity-policy, and platform-regulation events that reflect Brussels' role as the policy capital of European tech.
Beyond policy, there's a healthy community meetup scene across software engineering, DevOps, and data. Less dense than Paris or London, but with several very active monthly groups. English dominates the international events; local community events run across French, Dutch, and English.

(Source : Attrition in Tech report - TechTalent Charter)

Beyond Age Gates: Building Youth Safety Infrastructure That Actually Works
Brussels, đ§đȘ Belgium
Join us to explore how regulators, industry, and safety experts are turning age assurance principles into effective and reliable youth protection across Europe.
Please join us for our upcoming Trilligent Tech Talks - Beyond Age Gates: Building Youth Safety Infrastructure That Actually Works, on June 24, starting at 18:00 at the Pestana Brussels Schuman on Pl. Jean Rey 1.
As political momentum behind youth online safety accelerates across Europe, the question is no longer whether age assurance will become part of the digital ecosystem, but how it will be implementedâand where responsibility should sit. With the EU age verification app advancing and Member States launching their own initiatives, attention is shifting beyond age checks toward broader safety-by-design measures and more effective youth protection online.
In this session, we will explore the practical realities of building youth protection infrastructureâfrom the relationship between the verification layer and the safety-by-design layer, to the question of how responsibility is shared across public and private actors. The discussion will bring together regulators, industry, and safety experts to consider what's working, what's uncertain, and where the critical decisions lie in 2026.
Our panel, moderated by Sara BrandstÀtter, Data Privacy and Security Reporter at MLex, will feature distinguished experts, including:
-
Piotr MĂŒller â Member of the European Parliament
-
Maria Donde â Director of International Affairs, CoimisiĂșn na MeĂĄn (Ireland's Media Commission)
-
Julie Dawson â Chief Policy & Regulatory Officer, Yoti
-
Dagmara Franczak â Senior Associate Director, Trilligent
Following the panel discussion, we invite you to continue the conversation over drinks. We look forward to an evening of engaging discussions, insightful exchanges, and thought-provoking questions.
Please register by Monday, June 22. Please note that the event will be held in English and under the Chatham House Rule. If you have any questions, please contact us at events@trilligent.com.
Please note that photos taken at this event may be published on our website, social media channels, or other platforms. By registering for the event, you consent to images and/or videos of you being used for marketing and/or promotional purposes.
