Tech Events in Brussels
Brussels is unusually weighted toward tech-policy and open-source events because of the EU institutions concentrated in the city. FOSDEM each February is one of the largest open-source conferences in the world and draws tens of thousands. Around it, the calendar is full of AI-governance, data-protection, cybersecurity-policy, and platform-regulation events that reflect Brussels' role as the policy capital of European tech.
Beyond policy, there's a healthy community meetup scene across software engineering, DevOps, and data. Less dense than Paris or London, but with several very active monthly groups. English dominates the international events; local community events run across French, Dutch, and English.

Workshop: Anonymisation at the Crossroads of EU Digital Regulations
Brussels, 🇧🇪 Belgium
Workshop on anonymisation and data regulation, highlighting preliminary EC findings against Alphabet on Article 6(11) DMA compliance.
This workshop will examine the growing centrality of anonymisation in EU digital regulation, with particular focus on the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Recent enforcement developments , most notably the European Commission's preliminary findings on the sharing of search data, confirm that anonymisation and re-identification risk now lie at the heart of the policy debate.
The workshop's first objective is to understand how the Commission seeks to combine technical and contractual controls, why it appears to favour a heuristics-based approach over established anonymisation models such as k-anonymity, and what alternative approaches could offer in terms of privacy guarantees and utility preservation.
The discussion will then situate these developments within the broader regulatory context of the proposed Digital Omnibus package, which includes amendments to the definition of personal data and, through Article 41a, seeks to recalibrate the institutional balance between the Commission and the European Data Protection Board (EDPB).
Against this backdrop, the workshop asks whether the EU is witnessing the emergence of a new governance model for anonymisation, one shaped less by horizontal instruments than by sector-specific measures. Workshop participants will discuss the implications of these trends for privacy protection and regulatory coherence across the Union.

MadMapper Users Meetup
Brussels, 🇧🇪 Belgium
In real life gathering of MadMapper Users, masterclasses, lectures, pop up store, party, food, drinks, installations, performances.
A two-day gathering in Brussels, at LaVallée — a vibrant, artist-friendly space at the heart of Europe. This event brings together the MadMapper community for an immersive experience blending creativity, technology, and human connection.
Expect a rich program of masterclasses, lectures, live performances, and an art exhibition, alongside a pop-up store showcasing tools and creations from the community. The venue extends beyond its walls with an outdoor space for installations and social moments, and transitions into a night clubbing atmosphere after dark.
Designed as a relaxed and open environment, the event encourages exchange and collaboration between a diverse mix of artists and professionals: visual creators, theater makers, dancers, performers, musicians, technicians, lighting operators, and developers.
Easily accessible and close to all amenities, the gathering also features food trucks, a bar, drinks, and vegetarian options — everything needed to sustain both body and mind.
More than an event, it’s a melting pot of ideas and disciplines. A place to expand your vision, build meaningful connections, and strengthen a community rooted in creativity and human relationships.
Digital Workplace Brussels Conference
Brussels, 🇧🇪 Belgium
Join us in Brussels for the Digital Workplace Conference to explore the future of work and tech!
Digital Workplace Brussels ConferenceJoin us in person for the Digital Workplace Brussels Conference!
Digital Workplace Brussels brings together experienced professionals and decision-makers from the Benelux and across Europe — including leaders and managers from communications, internal communications, digital workplace, HR, IT, and related fields. Many participants are part of the Advatera community of practice, which gives the event its distinctive peer-to-peer character.
Expect real-world case studies, practical takeaways, honest discussions, and valuable peer exchange — not theory, not entry-level content, and not a trade fair-style event. With a limited number of carefully selected partners, the focus is clearly on quality content, meaningful conversations, and professional networking.
From inspiring sessions and roundtable discussions to networking breaks and the get-together after the conference, Digital Workplace Brussels is designed for professionals who want to exchange ideas with peers, discover what actually works in practice, and take home insights they can apply in their own organization.
