Tech Events in Berlin

Berlin runs one of the densest tech-event calendars in Europe. The scene is distinctively community-driven: a large share of the city's meetups run in English, many of them out of independent spaces rather than corporate offices, and the rhythm is nightly rather than monthly. Rust, Go, Python, TypeScript, and the growing applied-AI community are all particularly strong, alongside deep traditions in hacker culture (the Chaos Computer Club's Berlin chapter), privacy, and open source.

On the conference side, the city hosts re:publica, Data Natives, AI Engineer Summit EU offshoots, a fleet of European KubeCon satellite events, and the annual Chaos Communication Congress in the winter. Startup and founder content runs in parallel across spaces like Factory, Betahaus, and the various accelerator-run venues, with Slush satellites and TechCrunch events passing through.

About Know Your Needs:

Know Your Needs helps organisations create environments where people can truly thrive. Where emotional intelligence, care, and meaning are part of how work gets done, not something added on afterward.

The work began with simple observation: across hundreds of conversations with employees, founders, and creative leaders, the same patterns appeared. What people needed most at work rarely came down to perks or productivity; it was about feeling recognised, supported, and able to grow without losing themselves in the process.

Founded by Ottoline, Know Your Needs brings together decades of curiosity about what helps humans flourish. Her path has blended philosophy, psychology, and lived experience: studying linguistics and Sanskrit philosophy at Oxford, working in Berlin’s fast‑paced tech world, and working for the past 5 years as a humanistic and integrative psychotherapist.

This blend of perspectives shapes an approach grounded in both depth and practicality; one that connects the inner world of people with the outer systems they inhabit.

At its heart, Know Your Needs is about creating workplaces that meet our core human needs for purpose, belonging, and growth. When those needs are met, people don’t just perform better, they feel alive in what they do and connected to the people they do it with.

PostgreSQL May Meetup: We didn't Know Postgres Could Do That!

Berlin, đŸ‡©đŸ‡Ș Germany

We will be hosting our May Meetup.

Thanks to Amazon for sponsoring us. Please note that you have to show sign up with your real name and show a Photo ID to the building security before entering the building. Every visitor will have their photo taken that will be printed on their paper visitor badge. This is a requirement from the building security. If you are not ok with that, please do not sign up. You can not bring a +1, everyone needs to sign up.
Please only sign up if you plan to come, we will keep notes.

Excited to announce our talks:

pg_lake: Unifying transactional and analytical data with Postgres
by Celeste Horgan, Sr. OSS Developer Advocate at Snowflake.

The common wisdom goes: data is either transactional or analytical, and workloads are OLTP and OLAP-shaped to match. The reality of generating and using data is different, and often we need a bit of both. The pg_lake extension brings OLAP workloads to OLTP Postgres.

This talk will explore the pg_lake extension, including how to build it, and demos of using it with modern data workloads in object storage like Amazon S3. We’ll create simple data pipelines with no ETL and high performance analytics.

I Didn't Know Postgres Could Do That!
by Robert Treat, Principal Database Engineer at AWS and PostgreSQL Major Contributor.

PostgreSQL is often thought of as "The Database for DBAs", but what more and more developers are finding out is that what makes Postgres "The Worlds Most Advanced Open Source Database" is its wide array of features, many of which are really geared towards engineers building applications on top of Postgres. In this talk, we'll look at some of the features in Postgres you may not have seen in other database systems, and talk about how you can make use of those features in your applications. Queries, indexing, data types, and more will all be up for discussion as we show you examples of just what Postgres can do.

18:45 - Intro by AWS UG Berlin
19:00 - 19:40 - Elias Abud // Delegated Access Management at Scale with AWS IAM Identity Center

This talk presents a delegation architecture that enables project owners and security stakeholders to manage their own users, groups, accounts, and permission sets while maintaining central governance. The solution introduces a unified API layer that can operate across multiple Identity Center instances and enforces organizational policies and quotas. It also applies the Backpressure Pattern to control request rates and protect Identity Center from overload.
Participants will learn how to implement delegated identity management at scale while balancing autonomy for teams with centralized security oversight.

Hard Tech Factory Talks Berlin: From Lab to €100M Business

Berlin, đŸ‡©đŸ‡Ș Germany

A curated Berlin gathering for founders, investors, and corporate builders working on real Deep Tech and hardware ventures

Hard Tech Factory Talks: "From Lab to €100M Business"

Most Deep Tech ventures do not fail because the technology is weak. They fail because scaling hardware, science-based products, and physical-world systems is brutally difficult.

The first Hard Tech Factory Talks in Berlin brings together a curated group of founders, investors, and corporate decision-makers for a direct conversation on what stops Deep Tech ventures from scaling and what it takes to fix it.

Hosted by nFrontier by Creative Dock, Marvelous DeepTech Fund, and REFLEX Aerospace, the evening is designed for people actively building, funding, or backing hard technology ventures.

What to expect

The session will include a short welcome from nFrontier, a clear point of view on the realities of scaling Deep Tech, and a fireside conversation with Walter Ballheimer, CEO of REFLEX Aerospace, on what it takes to scale hardware from technical promise to commercial momentum.

We will also explore what investors are really looking for, what still struggles to get funded, and how corporates can work more effectively with Deep Tech ventures. Guests will also get a closer look at nFrontier’s Hardware Lab and XR/VR Spatial Computing team.

The evening will close with drinks, networking, and curated introductions between founders, investors, and corporate leaders.

Who should attend

This event is for:

  • Deep Tech and hardware founders
  • investors backing science-based and industrial ventures
  • corporate venture, strategy, and innovation leaders
  • selected operators from the wider Deep Tech ecosystem
Important note

Attendance is FREE, but limited and curated. Registering interest does not guarantee a place. We are keeping the room small to make the discussion and introductions genuinely valuable.

The talk will be held in English to accommodate our international guests.

42 Berlin x Needle: Build What Works - Hackathon Challenge

Berlin, đŸ‡©đŸ‡Ș Germany

24 hours. Four tracks. Build something real on Needle's platform. Part of Mai ist fĂŒr AI 2026 at 42 Berlin.

Build What Works.

No demos for the sake of demos. In 24 hours, you build something real on Needle's platform. Something that runs. Something you can show. Something that solves an actual problem. The best build wins.

About the Hackathon

This May, as part of Mai ist fĂŒr AI 2026, 42 Berlin is partnering with Needle, a Berlin-based AI platform built for teams that actually have to ship, to host a hands-on hackathon open to 42 Berlin students and the wider Berlin tech community.

You'll spend 24 hours building features and integrations directly within the Needle platform, across four challenge tracks. The Needle team will be on-site for the entire event to mentor and support participants. A 42 Berlin alumna with industry software engineering experience will also be available throughout.

You ship something. You demo it. A jury decides who built the best thing.

Over €500 in prizes to win, food, drinks, and a direct line into Needle’s team for anyone who impresses them. Winners will be considered for fast-track interviews.

Some coding experience required. Curiosity about AI tools and automation: mandatory.

Teams will form on-site at the start of Day 1. Participants can of course come with a team already in mind, but it’s not required.

Participants should bring their own laptop. We’ll have external monitors to connect to, but please bring your own USB-C adaptor, if needed.

About Needle

Needle is a Berlin and San Francisco-based AI platform for enterprise search, agent development, and workflow automation. Founded in 2024 by Jan Heimes and Onur Eken, the platform unifies data across tools like Confluence, Slack, Gmail, GitHub, and Dropbox, and uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to power accurate, context-aware AI agents and applications.

Backed by 468 Capital and Presight Capital, Needle works with teams who care about security, precision, and shipping real AI systems into production. Its platform, APIs, and MCP support make it one of the most builder-friendly AI infrastructures coming out of Berlin right now.

Challenge Tracks

Pick one of four tracks to build in:

UX/UI and Page Design — Build or redesign interfaces within the Needle platform.

Workflows and Collections — Create automated workflows and structured data collections.

Build Using APIs — Develop integrations and extensions using Needle's API.

Build MCP Servers — Build Model Context Protocol servers that connect to the Needle application.
