Wir laden herzlich zu unserem monatlichen Meetup ein, das jeden zweiten Dienstag im Monat im SAE Bochum stattfindet!

Was Sie erwartet: Dieses Meetup bietet Entwicklerinnen und Entwicklern die Möglichkeit, ihre Projektfortschritte des letzten Monats vorzustellen, Motivation und Verbindlichkeit zu fördern und Feedback aus der Community zu erhalten. Egal ob Student, Hobbyist oder Profi – alle sind willkommen! Wir freuen uns über Projekte in jedem Entwicklungsstadium.
Gerne können Sie Essen und Getränke mitbringen und vor Ort genießen.

Die NIS-2-Richtlinie verschärft die Anforderungen an Cybersicherheit deutlich und nimmt erstmals die Geschäftsleitung persönlich in die Pflicht.

In dieser Infoveranstaltung bringt Jana Knuth, Projektleitung der vom Land Nordrhein-Westfalen geförderten NIS-2-Anlaufstelle NRW, Klarheit in das Thema: Pflichten, Haftung und Ihr konkreter Fahrplan zur Compliance.

Im Anschluss laden wir zum Networking in den Räumlichkeiten der isits AG ein. Die Gelegenheit für persönlichen Austausch mit Expertinnen, Experten und anderen Entscheidern.

Join us for an open conversation about what this shift means for students and professionals. We’ll explore how the developer’s role is changing, where AI agents can help, and why understanding the applications we build still matters.

For students, we’ll discuss the foundations worth learning, how to demonstrate your skills in an AI-assisted project, and how cloud knowledge can support your first steps into tech. For professionals, we’ll explore how to evaluate AI-generated work, decide what to delegate, and keep quality, security, and maintainability in view.

We’ll also connect the conversation to AWS: what does it take to move from generated code to an application that runs reliably in the cloud?

Speakers
Md. Mostafa Al Mahmud is a Senior Software Engineer at Cogwheel Marketing & Analytics. He has presented on generative AI, AWS, and building cloud-based AI applications, bringing a practical perspective to conversations about technology and the future of work.

Emad Bawah is a Senior Consultant at Adesso SE with a focus on AWS, generative AI, and agentic AI.
He brings a robust skill set from his role in building smarter AI agents and experience interfacing with Clients and building AI solutions.

We're excited to announce our fifth Elixir Ruhr Meetup.

This time, we welcome Christian Geuer-Pollmann, principal reliability engineer at Microsoft's Azure Engineering team, who will kick things off with a talk about frugal networking in Elixir:

I just wanted to run web sites on my laptop, with real Let’s Encrypt TLS, without memorizing port numbers because localhost:4000 is always taken.

Then things (well, me) escalated:

• What if it’s a BEAM cluster, where every node needs the exact same auto-renewed key material, even behind NAT where Let’s Encrypt can’t reach it (can's use Saša Jurić's site_encrypt)?
• What if my DNS provider’s API token can do too much stuff, and I want cryptographic, single-record ACLs?
• What if I refuse to hand my private keys to (and pay for) Cloudflare, want true end-to-end TLS via a cheap VPS, without exposing my home IP, and still want Phoenix's conn.remote_ip to be the real visitor—without X-Forwarded-For?
• And what if the server is a little picture frame (running Nerves)?

Come see how a pure pure-Elixir AMQP 1.0, SNI-peeking reverse tunnels, cluster-aware ACME, fine-grained DNS gateways, and a bit of Rust (phx-port, SCM_RIGHTS socket handoff & eBPF) fit together - and why yak shaving is the best way to learn systems programming on the BEAM.

Some words about Christian:
Christian Geuer-Pollmann (chgeuer on the Internets) currently is with Microsoft's Azure Engineering team as principal reliability engineer. During his 23-year MSFT tenure, he worked at Microsoft Research on identity and access topics, and since 2011 has been bringing software companies into the cloud. He loves esoteric shit like Elixir and F#, holds a PhD in electrical engineering and currently spends way to much time renovating his house.
