We'll have a Battle Decks meetup this time.
What is Battle Decks?
Battle Decks (also known as "PowerPoint Karaoke") is an improv game for developers who like living dangerously. Here's how it works:

A volunteer steps up to present a slide deck they have never seen before. No prep, no notes, no idea what's coming next.

The Rules

1. The presenter sees the first slide for the first time as they start talking — confidently, as if it's their own talk.
2. Slides advance automatically (or on a click) every 20 30 seconds, whether the presenter is ready or not.
3. Each new slide has to be worked into the story on the fly — charts, buzzwords, and all.
4. Each round runs about 3–5 minutes.

The Goal It's not about being right. It's about:

• Sounding confident even when you have absolutely no idea what's on the next slide
• Thinking on your feet and improvising a coherent story out of nonsense
• Making the audience laugh

Why We Play It It's a fun way to practice public speaking, quick thinking, and grace under pressure — while watching your colleagues valiantly try to explain a chart about "aunt scaling groups" with a straight face.

Tonight's decks all riff on real AWS services (S3, Lambda, EC2, IAM, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, VPC, Route 53, Kiro, Bedrock, and more) mashed up with completely unrelated everyday topics. You don't need deep AWS expertise to play — just a willingness to make things up convincingly.
Volunteers welcome. No experience (or shame) required.

Hexagonale Architektur gilt als besonders gut testbar. In der Praxis bleibt aber oft unklar, welche Tests man konkret schreiben sollte: Unit-Tests für jede Klasse, Integration-Tests gegen die echte Datenbank oder doch E2E-Tests durch die UI?

Dieser Vortrag zeigt eine Teststrategie, die sich direkt aus der Architektur ableitet. Ausgehend von Khorikovs vier Qualitätsmerkmalen für Tests betrachten wir die Testarten der Hexagonalen Architektur: Port-to-Port-Tests für die Fachlichkeit, Adapter-Tests mit Testcontainers für die Ränder und System-Integration-Tests für das Zusammenspiel. Dazu kommen die Fragen, die im Alltag entscheiden, ob eine Teststrategie trägt: Woher kommen die Testdaten? Wann ist ein Fake besser als ein Mock? Wie sichern Architektur-Tests die Abhängigkeitsregeln des Hexagons? Und warum sagt Line Coverage wenig darüber aus, wie gut die Tests wirklich sind? Zum Schluss geht es über die Grenze eines einzelnen Hexagons hinaus: Wie testet man mehrere Services zusammen, ohne in fragile E2E-Tests zu laufen? Contract Tests geben darauf eine Antwort.

Referent:
Andreas Jürgensen ist Softwarearchitekt mit mehrjähriger Erfahrung als Softwareentwickler. Sein besonderer Fokus liegt auf der Modernisierung von Legacy-Systemen sowie dem automatisierten Testen und Collaborative Modeling - Bereichen, die er als essenzielle Bestandteile nachhaltiger und wartbarer Softwareentwicklung versteht. Er ist Gründer und Geschäftsführer von FOURTEEN IT und unterstützt dort als Coach und Consultant Unternehmen und Entwicklungsteams durch Trainings und Beratung bei der Konzeption und Umsetzung moderner Softwaresysteme.

  A nonprofit community of 6000+ AI builders running 100+ events a year across Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Lisbon, Rotterdam & Miami. All volunteer-driven. All in-person. Maximum community vibes since 2023.

• Why the donation? Two reasons:

1. So we can count heads (venues have max capacity, pizza has a shelf life)
2. Sponsors don't cover everything yet. Every euro goes back into the community.

• I'm not technical - can I come?

Am Donnerstag, dem 13. August 2026, haben wir einen ganz besonderen Leckerbissen für unsere Community: Unser früherer it-agile-Kollege Henning Wolf hat gemeinsam mit Bill McCarley ein Buch zum Power or Control Model geschrieben – und wir feiern mit den beiden ihren Book-Launch!

Bill und Henning geben exklusive Einblicke in die Kernthesen ihres Buches und liefern praktische Impulse für den Wandel von starrer Kontrolle zu wirksamer Führung mit Vertrauen und echter Power.

🇬🇧 Hinweis zur Sprache: Der Vortrag der beiden wird auf Englisch gehalten. Der anschließende Austausch kann natürlich gerne auf Deutsch und Englisch gemischt stattfinden!

Egal ob Führungskraft, Scrum Master, Product Owner, Agile Coach oder einfach neugierig auf moderne Organisationsentwicklung – jede und jeder, die/der Führung neu denken möchte, nimmt hier wertvolle Impulse mit.

Nach dem offiziellen Vortrag ist noch lange nicht Schluss. Der Austausch innerhalb der Community ist das Herzstück unseres Events. TALK 1: Spot-Only Karpenter: What Breaks at 3AM
Running Karpenter 100% on spot keeps our bill low but in the previous months waves of spot terminations put that strategy to the test. We will walk through our migration from kOps and Cluster Autoscaler to EKS and Karpenter, the rough edges we hit along the way, the newer options Karpenter now offers to influence spot behavior and what it really takes to keep services stable on spot-only infrastructure.

TALK 2: Forget Portals: Headless, Intent-Driven Platforms
This talk challenges the ecosystem's reliance on monolithic developer portals. To cure GUI fatigue, it offers a vendor-agnostic blueprint for headless IDPs. By demonstrating how the MCP connects natural developer workflows directly to platform APIs, we equip teams to build leaner, intent-driven platforms.

GrowAP Hamburg: Growing with Agents – Prompt-a-thon

In unserem Agentic Co-Creation Prompt-a-thon® GrowAP! Hamburg arbeiten die Teilnehmenden gemeinsam mit verschiedenen KI-Agenten in Teams an konkreten Challenges und entwickeln konkrete Impulse für die Zukunft Hamburgs. Das Pre-Event zum KI-Summit macht persönlich erfahrbar, wie ein möglicher Arbeitstag von morgen aussehen könnte.

Wie unterschiedlich agieren KI-Agenten und wie bindet man sie erfolgreich in Organisationprojekte ein? In unserem interaktiven Live-Format GrowAP Hamburg: Growing with Agents – Prompt-a-thon gehen die Teilnehmenden dieser Frage ganz praktisch in Gruppen-Challenges nach. Im Mittelpunkt stehen kreative Lösungsansätze, kollaboratives Arbeiten und der Aufbau von Zukunftskompetenzen rund um Künstliche Intelligenz. Eine Veranstaltung für alle, die KI nicht nur verstehen, sondern aktiv gestalten möchten.

Der GrowAP! baut auf dem von der Promptathon® GmbH (eine Ausgründung der Universität Hamburg) vielfach erprobten Promptathon®-Format auf und erweitert es um eine neue Choreografie aus Mensch, KI-Agenten und hybrider Synthese. Statt ins Allgemeine zu gehen, nehmen wir konkrete Entwicklungschancen in den Blick, die Hamburg prägen: von Logistik und Commerce, über Spitzenforschung und Deeptech bis hin zu Sport, Kreativität und Stadtentwicklung.

Das Ziel: Wir erarbeiten einen gemeinsamen Standpunkt zu „KI-Agenten & Entwicklungschancen für Hamburg" mit 5–8 diskutierbaren Thesen/Entwürfen für Hamburg – falsifizierbar, mehrstimmig und anschlussfähig.

Abschließend findet eine kritische Diskussion der Ergebnisse sowie des Erlebnisses statt. Ein Expertenpanel gibt einen Ausblick in die Arbeitswelt von morgen.

Durchgeführt und realisiert wird dies von ThIS! - The Interface Society e.V. in Zusammenarbeit mit der Promptathon® GmbH / Universität Hamburg.

Hinweis zur Teilnahme:
Erste praktische Erfahrungen mit GenKI werden vorausgesetzt. Ein eigenes Endgerät (Laptop, Tablet, Smartphone) ist mitzubringen. Die Teilnahme ist kostenfrei, aber nur nach vorheriger Anmeldung möglich.

Trefft andere KI- und Technikinteressierte bei unserem etablierten KI-Stammtisch, der seit mehr als drei Jahren die Hamburger KI-Szene zusammenbringt. Beim AI Mix & Mingle in der Sofabar könnt ihr in lockerer Atmosphäre Gedanken austauschen oder über eure KI-Projekte sprechen. Es gibt keine Vorträge. Der Fokus liegt auf dem Austausch und dem Knüpfen von Kontakten.
