AI disrupted our ways of working too: insights from real projects
Belgrade, 🇷🇸 Serbia
👉 Important: You can skip the Meetup+ subscription by clicking “Skip” in the top right corner.
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming part of everyday software engineering. While much of the discussion focuses on code generation, the real impact goes much further.
Join us for an evening of lightning talks where experienced architects and engineering leaders from Zühlke share practical insights from real projects and real-world challenges. We'll explore how AI is influencing architectural work, engineering decisions, software delivery processes, and even the way organisations approach cost optimisation.
Through 4 lightning talks and interactive Q&A sessions, we'll discuss what works, what doesn't, and where human judgment still matters most.
After the talks, stay for networking, discussions, and connecting with fellow engineers over food and drinks.
🎤 Talks
AI won't give you architectural vision - but it'll build everything around one
Milan Starčević
AI can significantly accelerate architecture work, but it cannot replace architectural vision. In this session, Milan shares an architect's workflow for working with AI: what inputs are worth providing, which outputs deserve attention, how to evaluate alternatives, and how to keep estimates realistic.
A practical look at using AI as a powerful assistant while maintaining the judgment and direction that only experienced architects can provide.
Turning architecture reviews from opinion to evidence
Viktorija Filipović Tošić
Architecture reviews often become opinion-driven discussions. Documentation is incomplete, dependencies are hidden, and critical knowledge exists only inside people's heads.
This talk explores how AI can help transform architecture reviews into evidence-based conversations by turning scattered inputs into structured summaries, risk assessments, hypotheses, and recommendations.
How AI changes the software delivery process
Novak Tadić
AI can already help us write code faster. But what happens after coding?
Novak explores how AI is influencing testing, reviews, requirements, releases, and decision-making throughout the delivery lifecycle. The session focuses on how AI affects the entire software delivery process—not just individual developers.
The cost of cutting costs
Veljko Zrnić
Organisations increasingly look to AI and automation as ways to reduce costs. But what happens when cost-cutting becomes the primary objective?
This talk takes a second look at the long-term impact of aggressive cost reduction strategies and explores their effects on quality, security, expertise, and engineering culture.

Rivian Assistant: Giving Your Car a Brain of Its Own
Belgrade, 🇷🇸 Serbia
Ever wished your car actually understood you—not just your voice commands, but your intent?
Join us for an event co-hosted by Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies.
On Wednesday, June 24, at 6.30 PM, at the RV Tech Belgrade Tech Center (Omladinskih brigada 88v), engineers from Rivian Volkswagen Group Technologies will share how they are building the Rivian Assistant, an AI-powered in-car assistant designed to understand natural language and interact directly with vehicle systems.
Save your spot!
*Please note that this event is in English.
Abstract
We are excited to introduce a deep dive into the Rivian Assistant, the next generation of AI that goes far beyond standard voice control. Unlike basic systems that just read the weather, this assistant is deeply hardwired into the vehicle's hardware and software. Want to drop the ride height, pop the frunk, and heat up every seat in the cabin except yours in a single, natural sentence? Done.
But here is where it gets truly dazzling: we are bringing Edge AI directly onto the road. By running advanced voice and optimized language models locally on the vehicle's own hardware, we are cutting the cloud cord for core features. That means zero lag, total privacy, and ultimate in-car intelligence that stays active even when you drive off the grid.
And here is the best part: the brains behind this technology are being shaped right here by our Belgrade team.
Join us to hear firsthand what we are creating and driving forward on a global scale. Come by, connect with our engineers, and get a closer look at the future of automotive intelligence - developed right here in Belgrade.
Speakers:
• Luka Krickovic | Computer Vision Engineer
• Jelena Garic | Computer Vision Engineer
• Aleksa Katic | Senior Computer Vision Engineer
• Filip Todorovic | Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Least Frequently Used Cache: The Annoying Little Brother of LRU
Belgrade, 🇷🇸 Serbia
LFU looks deceptively close to LRU: both caches evict the "least useful" item. We'll look at how the ordering rule affects data structure design. We'll discuss the algorithmic tradeoffs behind LFU and compare different implementation strategies, ending with benchmarks in C++ and Rust.
Date and time: 25th of June (Thursday), 6 pm
Location: Beograđanka, Vidikovac, 22nd floor

Tech Talks Belgrade: Building Practical AI into Real Products
Belgrade, 🇷🇸 Serbia
On July 9, we’re hosting a new Belgrade Tech Talks meetup dedicated to practical AI in product and engineering.
Location: Ulica Ideja 2 · Belgrade
Time: July 9, 6:00 PM
Language: Russian
Together with our speakers, we’ll explore how AI assistants are changing the way users interact with complex systems, how teams can observe and debug LLM-powered features in production, and what happens when AI moves beyond simple prompts into real tools, data, and actions.
This meetup will be useful for developers, product managers, data engineers, DevOps engineers, solution architects, and anyone interested in how AI is being implemented in real products — not as a buzzword, but as working systems.
What we’ll discuss:
Don’t Teach Your LLM a UI Language — MCP Apps Are the Standard
Chat UIs often break when complex product data, maps, dashboards, and reports are squeezed into Markdown tables. We’ll talk about why teaching an LLM a custom UI language can quickly become fragile, and how MCP Apps offer a more reliable way to deliver real interactive UI from MCP servers.
Exploring AI Observability Sidecars: LLM-Assisted Triage Inside the Production Perimeter
As AI features move into production, teams need better ways to monitor, understand, and debug them. This talk will explore how observability sidecars can support LLM-assisted triage while keeping analysis close to the production environment.
Is UI Dead?
If users can ask questions, receive insights, trigger actions, and work with data through AI assistants, what happens to traditional interfaces? We’ll discuss how the role of UI is changing — and why the future may be less about replacing interfaces and more about rethinking how people interact with systems.
We’ll also have a practical demo session on agentic AI: a short, hands-on introduction showing how AI can work not just as a chatbot, but as an agent with access to data, tools, and actions.
Expect practical examples, real product lessons, live discussion, and networking with the local tech community in Belgrade.
Join us on July 9 for an evening about AI, product engineering, and the future of human-computer interaction.
