Brainberg

Software Engineering Events in Antwerp

This is the widest category on Brainberg, because software engineering itself spans a huge range of events: language user groups (Python, Rust, Go, TypeScript, Kotlin, Elixir, Ruby, Zig), framework communities (React, Svelte, Next.js, Vue, Laravel, Django, NixOS), backend architecture tracks, testing and QA tracks (ISTQB certification courses, mutation testing, test-automation workshops), refactoring and DDD circles, hackathons, and the long tail of "thoughtful engineering" meetups that don't fit neatly under any specific stack.

This page narrows the Antwerp calendar to Software Engineering events. It's a subset of Belgium's wider tech-event schedule, useful when you want something specific to go to in the city this month.

Unlocking the Power of Spec-Driven API Development in the Age of AI by Tim Haselaars
AI ships API code fast. Without a spec, it's chaos.
This talk covers Spec-Driven API Development — using a single OpenAPI spec to automatically generate docs, tests, mocks, and SDKs. It explores how AI can assist: drafting specs from conversations, catching vibe-coding pitfalls early, and converting your spec into an MCP server so AI agents can call your API without any custom integration

Tim Haselaars has a track record in Technical Product Management with a passion for music and APIs. He contributes to API-related open-source projects such as Inspectr, Portman, Postman-to-K6, and OpenAPI-format.

Growing Disks and Fighting DDoS with (Franken)PHP by Siebe Vanden Eynden
At team.blue we manage a large number of servers, and keeping them happy isn’t strictly our job as developers. However, we’re happy to help!

Working alongside our operations team, we use PHP to grow disks, combat DDoS attacks, scan for malware, and much more.
This talk delves into our internal tools, our collaboration with the operations team, and the process of building and distributing those tools. (Spoiler alert: FrankenPHP!)

Siebe Vanden Eynden is a full-stack developer at team.blue, with PHP and TypeScript as his primary tools. He sees the value in automating boring tasks so that more time can be spent on the fun ones.
