Software Engineering Events in London
This is the widest category on Brainberg, because software engineering itself spans a huge range of events: language user groups (Python, Rust, Go, TypeScript, Kotlin, Elixir, Ruby, Zig), framework communities (React, Svelte, Next.js, Vue, Laravel, Django, NixOS), backend architecture tracks, testing and QA tracks (ISTQB certification courses, mutation testing, test-automation workshops), refactoring and DDD circles, hackathons, and the long tail of "thoughtful engineering" meetups that don't fit neatly under any specific stack.
This page narrows the London calendar to Software Engineering events. It's a subset of United Kingdom's wider tech-event schedule, useful when you want something specific to go to in the city this month.
London has one of the largest single-city tech-event calendars in the world. Every major engineering discipline sustains multiple monthly meetups here (AI-applied, ML research, backend, frontend, cloud, DevOps, security, data), and every major international conference has a London edition or satellite. Engineering leadership is unusually strong: LeadDev London is effectively a pilgrimage event, and CTO Craft, staff-engineer communities, and product-management meetups (Mind The Product) run year-round.

Newham Tech Club
London, 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
Newham Tech Club for tinkerers, programmers and inventor. Oriented open source, Linux etc,
Third meeting of Newham Tech Club!
This is the third meeting for tech hobbyists and tinkerers in Newham. There's still not a whole lot of detail because we're hoping that people who come will start to define the contents of the meeting, going forward.
Some of the ideas we discussed at the first meeting were, computer music, fixing old bits of tech, installing Linux on older computers, mesh networking. education, show and tell sessions. We have to work out how to fit some of this together.
We should have someone with DBS present so we can accept under 18s.
We also have a relationship with https://southendtech.co.uk/ who hold meetings in Essex.
We'll soon have a website at: https://newham-tech-club.uk/ we can work a bit on this on the 13th and learn some HTML.
Architecture Kata at Zopa Bank
London, 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
We're delighted to announce an exciting LSCC event on Wednesday 13th May, in partnership with our friends at Zopa Bank!
Join us at the Zopa Canary Wharf office in London for this session and get the chance to flex your architectural design muscles!
"So how are we supposed to get great architects, if they only get the chance to architect fewer than a half-dozen times in their career?" — Ted Neward.
This quote highlights the need for practice, which is what our LSCC architecture katas provide: a safe, repeatable way to hone your software architecture design skills by simulating architectural challenges.
What's the format?
You'll be split into groups and have a business problem to solve. You'll be tasked with designing a technical architecture to meet that problem context. As with real-life you'll have to manage various trade-offs in your design and interact with a Product Owner to clarify your questions.
At the end of the task each team will showcase their architecture and technology choices back to the wider group as part of a group discussion.
Whether you're a seasoned coder, software architect or new to the scene, you're invited to share insights, discuss best practices, and learn from fellow participants. No prior session attendance or architecture knowledge is required – just bring your enthusiasm. No laptop is required for this session, we'll provide each group with paper, pens and sticky notes to support the activity.
Thank you to the Codurance team that will run the event at Zopa Bank's office. Find out more at https://www.codurance.com/
Food and drinks will be provided with vegetarian, vegan and non-alcoholic options available - thanks to Zopa Bank for sponsoring refreshments and hosting in their great office.

C++ on Thames
London, 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
This month we're doing something a bit different.
Edward Boggis-Rolfe has very kindly offered to host us at the moorings where he has a boat, just up past Tower Bridge.
We'll have access to a small event space, right on the river, which is covered, but outdoors. We'll have a BBQ going, serving sausages, and free drinks. The cost of the food and drink is being covered by Undo - so thanks to Undo, too!
But rather than just be a social event, we do want to include some C++ content, too. We'll have access to a screen and projector - but whether we'll be able to use them depends on the weather!
So we're inviting anyone that wants to give a lightning talk to let us know.
The one caveat is that you'll need to be prepared to give it without slides if we can't use the projector (we should have audio, at least). As an extra incentive we'll be holding back a few places for people who can give talks. Spaces will be limited overall, but if you do a talk your place is assured!
So submit your ideas here:
cppldn.uk/speak
5 minutes, something related to C++, slides optional. Go!

ANA 2026 Symposium "Building Technology We Can Trust for Mental Health"
London, 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
Committed to the ethical use of neuroscience for global impact, here we'll explore lab-to-life AI, brain tech, and real-world care.
Join us for an evidence-led, practical view of mental health technology. The theme selected for this year’s symposium is “Building Technology We Can Trust for Mental Health. AI, brain tech, and real-world care.”
Nearly 1 in 7 people in the world live with a mental disorder (WHO, 2025)
The session aims to bridge the translation gap between remarkable advancements in our understanding of the brain and nervous system and the lived experience of mental health technology. Through a series of fresh-thinking, focused talks and lively conversations in this incredibly important and impactful field. Bringing a fully inclusive immersion into the remarkable advancements in field research, the risks around data, privacy, and exploitation, and what responsible, person-centred design looks like in real-world care.
*********************************************************************************************************
By 2030, the global burden of mental illness is projected to reach $6.7tr (6.7x10^12) (Bloom et al., 2011). Unsurprisingly, this is a strategic area for research and commercialisation, with Neurotechnology patent applications doubling over the past 10 years, particularly those that also relate to computer technologies.
As more mental health professionals incorporate technology into clinical practice, the possibilities for treatment are expanding. (CMI).
The collection of behavioural signals and markers accelerates with our increased curiosity in self-management and improvement applications. Yet evidence swells that over-reliance on incentivised platforms can become exploitative, leading to unintended consequences and potentially distorted care.
How do we design technology that protects and respects the Reason and Conscience of an individual (UN) whilst delivering real improvements?Invited speakers from: Dementias Platform UK, King's College London, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Co-Opts, Breda Spillane, University of Sussex One HealthTech, Enriched Analysis and ANA Members, Aneta Herrenschmidt-Moller and Shalvi Arunprakush working actively “from lab to life” will openly discuss shared mental models, plus concrete examples of what can go wrong, what good looks like, and how to build successful digital frameworks for the people most affected.
Please note - this event will be recorded for distribution across different mediums.
ANA welcomes respectful, open conversation**,** questions, and feedback from all attendees.

Tech Startups in the Pub - Relaxed Networking
London, 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
After work drinks for tech startup founders and teams, investors and tech enthusiasts.
While many co-working spaces run events for their members, and while there are many talks that attract people in a specific stage or role, it's nice to have a casual event that people can attend no matter where they are based, what stage their startup is at, or what their role is in the company. You could be a founder doing your first steps in the startup world and working from home, or a developer in a company that just made an exit and is based at the top of The Shard - everyone is welcome and we're sure everyone has something to learn and something they can share with others.
We meet at the Windmill in the City (27 Tabernacle St, Shoreditch, London EC2A 4DE) and will be there from 6pm. We hope to see you there! If you can’t make it this time, we meet at the same pub on the 3rd Friday of every month, so it's one for the diary!
HOUSE RULES
- Let Oliver, Pedro, Rob or other Rob, or anyone else with a burgundy T-shirt know when you’ve arrived so we can introduce you to everyone.
