Join TechFoundHer at the Guinness Enterprise Centre in Dublin for a high-energy lunchtime event for women who are building, experimenting, creating and turning ambitious ideas into action.

This special event brings together founder stories, a practical introduction to the next WeBuild cohort, and a keynote designed to challenge the idea that you need perfect conditions before you start.

At the heart of the event is Kelly Vero - legendary game developer, award-winning founder, creative technologist, author and one of the most distinctive voices in gaming and emerging technology.

Kelly has worked on globally recognised titles including Tomb Raider and Halo 3, and is now co-founder of NAK3D. Her work spans gaming, gamification, immersive technology and the metaverse, with a strong focus on creativity, ethics and how people actually use technology.

Her recent book, Breaking Through Bytes, profiles pioneering women in STEM from ancient Egypt to the modern games industry.

For this event, Kelly will explore the idea of the Bionic Founder - a founder who uses the tools around them to move, test, learn and create without waiting for perfect conditions. The key message is do the work!

Her message is simple:

You don’t need to wait for funding.
You don’t need to wait for the next grant call.
You don’t need permission to start.

A joint event with ISACA and ISC2 Chapters - From Gen Z to Gen A and the Boomer Wise Guys and Gals

This event brings together two groups with a shared but often misaligned interest: students and young professionals preparing to enter the IT workforce, and the Industry Professionals seeking to recruit and develop talent that delivers real organisational value.

Rather than a traditional careers fair or one-directional presentation format, this event is built as a mutual learning experience. Students and Industry Professionals each articulate their expectations of one another, explore the gap between those expectations, and then work together in mixed groups on realistic, pre-scripted problems — building genuine professional relationships along the way.

The audience mix is approximately 70% students and 30% Industry Professionals, keeping small-group discussion rich and well-facilitated without professional voices being diluted or overwhelmed.

Bring a symbol that means something to you and turn it into something you can make with your hands.

It could be the crest of your favourite football, rugby or GAA team, your family crest, a club emblem, a badge or simply a symbol you like.

Before the workshop, send us an image of what you would like to make. We’ll prepare the design and laser cut all the wooden pieces in our studio, so when you arrive everything is ready for you.

Then it’s your turn.

You’ll choose your colours, paint the different pieces and put everything together layer by layer.

While we make, we’ll also show you how we took your image and turned it into something physical using digital design and laser cutting.

You don’t need to know anything about laser cutting or design before coming. We prepare the technical part so you can enjoy making the piece.

If you’re not sure what you want to make, we’ll also have some designs in the studio for you to choose from.

All materials, paints and tools are included.

At the end, you’ll take home your own wooden emblem, made by you and ready to hang, display or give to someone.

Send us your image or reference at least 48 hours before the workshop, so we have enough time to prepare your pieces.

Technē Makers is a creative practice and digital fabrication studio in Dublin.

Our workshops are a chance to spend some time making with your hands, explore materials, try something new and discover different ways of turning ideas into physical things.

Technology is part of the process, but it’s only a tool.

Karen Forde, founder of Bridge the Gapp, spends her working week reviewing codebases that founders built with AI tools and no engineering team. She will walk through what she finds, what it costs to fix, and the handful of decisions you can make early that keep a prototype on a path to production.

The presentation topic is libcamera GPUISP, a pure Software Image Signal Processor. Modern camera hardware often relies on proprietary firmware, leaving open-source developers with raw, unprocessed Bayer data. This talk explores libcamera’s evolution from a multi-threaded CPU-based SoftISP to its high-performance GPU-accelerated implementation with OpenGL. We also discuss the specific c++ development choices that allow libcamera to handle complex media graphs and performance-critical real-time image processing across diverse hardware architectures.

Our speaker Bryan O’Donoghue is a linux kernel & c++ engineer, serving as the upstream maintainer for the Qualcomm CAMSS and USB type-C drivers, as well as a reviewer for video encoders and embedded controller drivers. Bryan works as an independent embedded software consultant at Linaro and is an active contributor to the libcamera project, where he focuses on developing open-source software to overcome the limitations of proprietary hardware image signal processing.

For our next Tog Science Fiction Book Club, we’ll be reading The Tusks of Extinction by Ray Nayler.
This short, thought-provoking science fiction novel explores extinction, conservation, memory, and the possibility of bringing lost species back into the world. It should give us plenty to discuss, from the ethics of de-extinction to humanity’s relationship with nature and technology.
We’ll be meeting in person at Tog Hackerspace on Tuesday, 29th September at 7:30pm.

Neill will look back at a project from a decade ago: building and deploying a recommender system for a car rental website.

He’ll cover the business problem, the approach he took, the challenges
he encountered, and how the system ultimately made it into production.
Along the way, **mixture models, stochastic gradient descent, discrete
choice modelling, significance testing,** and **purchasing power
parity** will all make an appearance.

Drawing on his experience of taking the project from theory through to
implementation, Neill will share some of the things that worked, some
that didn’t, and lessons that may help you on your next data science
project.

Neill Sweeney has a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics, an M.Sc. in
Mathematics and Physics, and a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, where
he specialised in poker AI.

He was interested in AI before it was cool. Since then, he has worked
on everything from calibrating milk meters to building recommender
systems for car rental websites. He has always been particularly
interested in connecting theory with real-world implementation.

The week is being developed around five learning pathways, with practical sessions for different audiences and levels. Partners are welcome to propose alternatives, new ideas or different formats, the examples below are intended to start the conversation, not constrain it.

Reliable Agentic Systems on Snowfalke: A Cortex Agent Deep Dive, Anastasiia Stefanska, Snowflake Data Superhero

Building a Cortex Agent is easy. Building one that is reliable, observable, cost-effective and maintainable in production is a different challenge.

In this session, we go beyond the standard Cortex Agent configuration and look at the engineering patterns that become important as agentic applications grow in complexity. We will explore how to evaluate agent behaviour rather than just final answers, how to use traces and AI observability to understand what an agent is actually doing, and how to monitor and control the cost of agent execution.

We will then move beyond the individual agent and look at agentic harnesses and orchestration patterns - including when to rely on the Cortex Agent's built-in reasoning loop, when to introduce deterministic control around it, and how multiple specialised agents and tools can be combined into larger workflows.

Anastasiia Stefanska is a Berlin-based data leader, Snowflake Data Superhero, and co-founder of the Women on Snowflake user group. She works as a lead of a data team and specialises in managing data products using Snowflake and Tableau. She is an active speaker and contributor in the data community, recently sharing insights on Cortex Agents and presenting at Snowflake Summit events regarding AI-ready data, AI agents, and careers in the AI age.
